Jughead's POV:

The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a golden hue across the wooden floor of the cabin again. Betty was still asleep beside me, her soft breathing a comforting rhythm in the quiet room. I shifted slightly, careful not to disturb her as I gently got out of bed. Today was the day—a day I had been planning since our encounter with the bear when I was reminded of what truly mattered in life.

The smell of pine and the crackling of the fireplace filled the air as I moved through the cabin. My thoughts were focused on Betty—her laughter, her strength, and the way her eyes lit up when she was passionate about something. It was time to show her how I felt.

After a quick breakfast, I set my plan in motion. I rummaged through the cupboards, searching for items that would help create the atmosphere I envisioned. A few candles, strategically placed around the living area, would add a warm glow. I found a spare blanket and draped it over the couch, creating a cozy nook for us to sit together.

With everything in place, I checked my watch—perfect timing. Betty was stirring awake in the bedroom, and I could hear her soft footsteps approaching. I took a deep breath, nerves and excitement mingling as I waited for her to enter the room.

"Hey," she greeted sleepily, smiling as she entered the living area. "What's all this?"

I gestured around the room. "I thought we could have a quiet morning in," I said casually, trying to hide the nervousness in my voice. "Just us, enjoying each other's company."

Betty's eyes widened slightly, curiosity dancing in their depths. "That sounds wonderful, Jughead."

I held out a hand to her, a silent invitation. "Come sit with me," I said softly, guiding her to the couch. She settled beside me, the warmth of her presence sending a rush of emotions through me.

We sat together in comfortable silence for a while, enjoying the serenity of the moment. The crackling of the fire and the soft flicker of candlelight created an intimate ambiance. I glanced over at Betty, taking in the way the firelight played across her features, casting gentle shadows.

"Betty," I began, my voice steady despite the butterflies in my stomach. "I've been thinking a lot about us, about what we mean to each other."

She turned to me, her eyes searching mine with a mix of curiosity and anticipation.

"I... I really care about you, Betty," I continued, my heart pounding. "More than I've cared about anyone in a long time."

Her expression softened, a small smile playing on her lips. "Jughead..."

"I know we've been friends for a while," I said, my words tumbling out in a rush. "But lately, I've realized that my feelings for you are more than just friendship. I want us to be more, Betty."

Her eyes widened in surprise, and I could see the emotions flickering across her face—uncertainty, hope, and something else I couldn't quite place.

"I like you too, Jughead," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I... I'm not sure if I'm ready for something super serious."

I nodded, trying to hide the disappointment that threatened to surface. "I understand," I said quietly. "Especially with you working for my dad."

I took a deep breath, steeling myself. "He already knows, Betty," I admitted. "I talked to him yesterday. He gave us his blessing to date, its why he set this whole thing up."

She stared at me in disbelief, her eyes searching mine for any hint of deception. When she found none, a smile slowly spread across her face. "He did?"

I nodded, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. "Yeah. So... what do you say?"

Betty's smile widened, and without hesitation, she leaned forward and kissed me—a soft, tender kiss that spoke volumes. My heart soared as I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her closer.

Betty pulled back slightly, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Let's tell my dad we're together now," she said, her voice filled with certainty.

I grinned, unable to contain my excitement. "Yeah," I said, lifting her up in my arms. "Let's do it."

Betty got her phone out, called her dad, and told him. I could hear his excited tone and knew that it was the right choice.

I was so shocked that all it took was a weekend getaway and my confession that I liked her to get to this point.
