Later that day, I walked into the library, my heart pounding with anticipation and nerves. I had been looking forward to this moment ever since Samuel mentioned the tutoring session. He was already there, arranging his notes and looking utterly composed. The sight of him, with his intense focus and casual demeanor, sent a flutter through my stomach. I wondered if inside, he was as nervous as I was.
When he looked up and saw me, his face broke into a welcoming smile. "Hey, Navy." I smiled warmly back, "Hey!! Ready for some English lit?" I could see his eyes having excitement and enthusiasm.
I could feel my initial nervousness start to melt away. It's something about Samuel's presence that puts me in ease. "Yeah let's do this!" He said sounding confident.
We settled into the quiet hum of the library. As we began to discuss the points of the topic, I could feel myself being drawn to Samuel's interest in finding out what he didn't know. He was a quick learner, his way of viewing things was so different, like he lived in it, breathed it and seemed to wanna know each detail.
His patience shone through our conversations with a side of humour, he made me laugh alot too, which I liked alot about him.
As we continued to discuss topics like the Great Gatsby, I could feel a growing sense of ease and comfort. I realized that I was not only enjoying the academic challenge but also the time spent with Samuel. His insights, humor, and genuine interest in my thoughts made the session more than just a tutoring experience; it was a connection on a deeper level.
I didn't even realise how much time we spent together in the library. The golden light of the sunset shone through the window, making Samuel's eyes a perfect shade of hazel.
By the time we wrapped up our study session the library was almost empty. "Damn, time went by fast. This was fun, Navy."
"I had fun too, same time next week?" I ask him.
"Of course, can't wait," he says with a smile; it makes me weak in the knees.
As we walked out of the library together, I could feel this was more than just a tutoring session but something that will lead to a deeper connection. I realized right then and there that Samuel is going to be an important part of my life, whether I like it or not. As we are saying goodbye Samuel pulls me in for a hug and I felt my face get as red as a tomato. I smile, wave and the both of us go our separate ways. God the way this man makes my heart flutter.
