Please be careful. The look in his eyes made a lump form in Sophie's throat. Tears pooled in her eyes, threatening to spill over. If she looked too long, she would crumble, and there would be no stop to the tears.

I will. But the words were hallow and meaningless. They all knew it. Because the truth was, Sophie herself wasn't even sure she would make it back.

Her plan was simple, yet so incredibly stupid. But she couldn't think of anything better. Seeing her human parents like this, Sophie couldn't think straight. It was like trying to see through thick fog. You couldn't get very far.

She looked between her human sister and her boyfriend, seeing the tears in their eyes. She had to make it back.

I love you guys.

Love you too. They replied in unison.

And with that, Sophie shifted her concentration from her human mom to the officers' guns. She planted a seed of energy in each of them, concentrating as they grew.

Suddenly, all five guns pointed at their heads exploded. The policemen looked at their hands in confusion, before erupting into chaos.

Keefe and Amy took that as their cue to run, and broke into a sprint toward the alleyway.

She watched them go, forgetting about the cops, who were starting to realize that two of the 'kidnappers' had disappeared.

"Hey!" The lead officer was shouting. "Get back here!"

Sophie needed to cause a larger distraction. One that would buy them enough time to light leap away.

An idea suddenly struck her like a brick to the head. (A/N anyone know what I'm referring to?)

Not wasting any time, Sophie planted more seeds of energy. They required so much concentration, she almost passed out, but she grit her teeth and managed to stay conscious.

All at once, the cop cars exploded. Every single one.

The explosion threw Sophie backward twenty feet, into a large tree.

Pain shot through her whole body, starting from her back and her head.

She fell to the ground, dots already dancing across her vision. No. She couldn't pass out. Not here, not now.

Sophie summoned all of her energy to lift her head. The officers-and their cars, for that matter-were nowhere to be seen.

Tourists were gathering around Sophie, having seen the explosion.

A little boy tugged on his mother's hand, pointing toward the girl at the base of the tree.

She dropped her head to the ground again, wincing as a splitting headache engulfed her in pain.

More and more dots danced across her vision until the world started to fade.

Sophie fought to stay conscious, but that only increased her headache. When she could no longer take the pain, she released an ear piercing scream before the world turned black.

Sophie awoke to a blinding light.

Her headache was gone. In fact, she felt perfectly fine.

Sophie squinted and sat up, taking in her surroundings.

She appeared to be in a field, tall grass and wild flowers as far as she could see. The vivid blue sky stretching to the horizon in all directions, nothing else in sight. Butterflies lazily fluttered from flower to flower without a care in the world.
