Ripping My Skin

0 1 0

I rip my skin,
Trying to find something
You didn't touch
With your paper-cut words,
So beautifully said,
So hurtfully felt.

How many cuts do I need
To give up,
Try something new,
Ask for help
To stop the bleeding,
Ultimately, to end us?

But there is no "us,"
Just you and me, separately,
Two different lives,
Two different hearts,
Nothing in common,
Just the same timeline.

Did you ever look in my eyes
And see anything worth fighting for?
Something to cherish,
Something to consider?
Because I did,
And it would kill me if you didn't.
