After she had completed it.
She put her work into a large sleeve to keep it protected then did her English work which was to do her favourite thing and that was to write a sci-fi story being at least 4 pages long, she did that all the time anyway just for fun so if anything the task was easy. She was listening to music as she worked, which was unfortunate because she was unable to hear her chair beep at her then switch off which was very bad because unknown to her, the chair had just shut down from no battery, and that was somewhat problematic. Delilah wasn't as much of a perfectionist with English as she was with art, however she still had to check it over 4 times to make sure she didn't have any spelling mistakes or punctuation errors, luckily for her, she didn't find any so put the paper in her bag next to her. Delilah looked at the clock seeing it was almost 11 at night which kind of shocked her because she had worked for hours, she started rubbing her eyes from tiredness yawning and clicking her neck.
When she was finished.
She went to grab her joystick of the chair pulling it back, so the wheelchair would go backwards, however nothing happened. She frowned trying again but if it didn't work the first time, why would it suddenly work the second time? "That's a little... strange, come on please!" she tried to move it in different directions but nothing was happening. She checked the system to see if had switched off, she looked a little worried "oh no, come on!" she turned the chair on and heard a beep and the screen told her she had a system failure, then the screen turned off. She didn't know what to do, normally she would be able to fix it, but she was trapped between the chair and the desk, and she couldn't push the chair because when she arrived at the desk she put the chairs breaks on which locks the chair into place so couldn't move it no matter how much strength she had. Delilah was emotionally and physically done for the day, she just wanted it to be over. The only way for her to get out was to pull the chair back but nothing was working, she really did seem to be trapped. She shook her head "come on chair you've got to work with me here... come on you son of a bitch" she had no choice but to pull the red cord next to her to get the nurse. She waited for a while then the woman knocked on her door. Delilah had to yell because the door was far away and locked "you'll have to use the master key because I can't move" the woman opened the door "hello Delilah, are you okay? You pulled the cord?" "Yeah, while I was working, my chair turned off because it ran out of battery without me noticing. When I turn it back on, it experienced a system failure and um, I can't move it, it won't move at all, look" the woman tried to move the chair back, but it wouldn't move without the joystick because of the break. Delilah explained "it had a system failure which means the wires have stopped working, we need to fix them" "okay, I think the engineer can do it" Delilah nodded "yeah, okay good"
A few minutes later.
Someone came in and opened the back of the chair beginning to sort of the wires which scared Delilah a little because what if he broke it more "has this happened before?" asked the man "yes, it happened in public and I had to put the wires back into place" "yeah, it's because these wires aren't in the right place" she frowned "really? Well I must've placed them wrong" "could you turn the hair off for a moment?" "It is fully off, or it should be" the man nodded fixing the wires back into place then made sure they couldn't come out again "okay, that should do it" he closed the back of the chair "okay start it up and let's hope for the best" however first she had to charge it for a few minutes. When it was charged enough to at least get her to the bedroom she started it and the system ran 100 percent "thank you" "yeah, that now in theory shouldn't happen again" they both left, Delilah went to her room plugging the chair into charge, then went to bed happy she didn't have work the next day.
When she woke up next day.
She got on the chair and checked the systems just in case seeing they were at 100 percent and was happy about that. Delilah went into her main room and realized she didn't actually have anything to do that day, she didn't have university stuff to do, she just had a free day. Delilah went into her kitchen beginning to look through her cupboards not seeing anything she had officially run out of food, the university had given her some food but only for 2 days which made sense they were hardly going to give her loads of food. Luckily there were stores around the city, and she also wanted to explore, Delilah got her bags ready and grabbed her student card. The university was interesting because they gave their students money for food through the student card.
Delilah left the building.
She started moving through the city just exploring she hadn't really looked around the city yet and was actually excited. About a mile away from the building was a huge shopping centre full of cool stores pretty much all of which she loved. Delilah had a series issue of being able to stay focused, she originally went out to find food however that was before she found a store selling film trivia called the 'TV and film store' yeah not the most original name, but everything inside the store was something she wanted. Delilah grabbed a couple of comics because she really loved batman and was attempting to collect all the batman new 52 comics, she had numbers 1 to 5, but the comics were weirdly hard to find, annoyingly she did see the 9th issue so got it because she may never see it again but knew she wasn't able to be able to read it. She also got a dark metal comic because why not she hadn't read them before, and they looked kind of interesting. When she got her comics she found a stand with 10 pins she got some marvel, DC and Star Wars pins when she paid for them, she attached them to her student I.D hoping for the best she was allowed to do it. When she had finished having fun, she went to Tesco and got a bunch of food, spending more on snacks and fun food than she did actual meals which wasn't a very good idea, but that was okay. Delilah went back to her dorm building and started putting all the food away. When she was done she started cooking her dinner and reading the dark metal comic. When she got to the part about the origin of the batman who laughs she thought it was the dumbest thing she had ever read in her life. Number 1, if Batman had the gas inside him, and it was changing him biologically when he spoke to superman he should have been able to see that, but he didn't. Another thing, Batman calls all the members of the bat family to his cave and explains to them what he's going through, he turns away reaching into his cloak and the bat family don't suspect anything and don't even try to react or avoid, it could have worked if they actually fought him, and he took them out one by one, but he doesn't. He then kills the entire justice league and destroys his entire world. It's all insane and unrealistic. Delilah liked the idea of a bad batman but not the batman who laughs, one of her favourite depictions of a bad batman was owl man because he is genuinely cool and his reasoning for being bad made sense but the batman who laughs just goes too far and his evil plans weren't even that good and well thought out, that was a hill she was willing to die on. However, she still wanted to read the rest of them to see how the batman who laughs would die, she was actually pretty interested in the rest of them seeing how they were all recruited, and she couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next and how they dealt with it however she did think that they coul have gone about evil batmen in a better way that actually made him seem cool but they didn't.
Delilah ate her dinner.
She then decided to explore the city a little more at night, just exploring to see where everything was, and amazingly she found her friend Dave sitting at a fountain drawing. They started discussing their favourite comics and how they were adjusting to the new city, they had both come from smaller cities so to move to a huge city was scary for both of them. Delilah also decided to draw an image of the fountain, and they helped each other with drawing. Delilah also told Dave about what happened to her chair, amazingly he told he if it did ever happen again he would be able to help he was originally going to be an engineer, and he knew his way around fixing things, so they exchanged numbers just in case anything it ever did happen she knew exactly who to call.
