Esmé POV:
A voice screams my name, "Esmé!".
It's hard to breathe. Every time I inhale a cough erupts from the throat. My eyes burn as I looked through the air. Completely pitch black.
"ESMÉ!."
"Mom!", I screamed. Mom.. where is mom..
Mom.. Eli..
It all happened so fast. Eli's body in the casket.
Tristan holding my crying body.
He hadn't held me in weeks since Eli died.
And mom..She didn't speak a word all day.
"Mom..". I breath, before my eyes closed. I couldn't feel anything after that. I didn't even know if I was alive anymore.
It's so hot.
Mom.. she didn't speak all day. She cried and wept. But she refused to speak. She couldn't even say anything at the alter.
And when we got home she locked herself in her room.
Tristan...
Mom...
Eli.
"Ma'am?".
My eyes fluttered open before shutting again. My back was against something cold and I could feel a breeze against my face before a light was shined between my eyes.
"Ma'am can you hear me?".
"Mom..", I mumble, "Eli?".
"Ma'am", the voice picks up, "Can you tell me your name?".
"Mom..", I breathed before choking up. A wave of tears poured down my face as the people around me talked amongst themselves.
Where is my mom?
Where is Tristan?
The world felt as if it were spinning. A millions hand crossed my body. Examining me, covering me, asking me things. I had felt so out of it that their faces warped as if they were those funny mirrors you saw at the amusement park. I kept asking for my mom. But no one would answer me .
No one would tell me what had happened.
"Do you know a boy by the name of Tristan Smith?".
Tristan!
I tried to lift out of my seat at the mention of his name but the hand held me down, "Where is Tristan?! is he okay?! Where is he?".
"He's stable ma'am. They're keeping him down at the station".
"Please.. please don't hurt him.. he's on things.. I'm his only family", I cry, shaking my head in desperation, "His parents died last year you can't hurt him!".
"Things? What kind of things?".
"I shouldn't tell you", I breath, "He'll- he'll.. hate me forever".
The face had begun to slowly seep away. My conscious slowly fading as my eyes started to close.
"Things like drugs? Is he on drugs Esmé?".
"That's the last thing I heard before I passed out. Somehow I had said yes and with that confirmation Tristan was arrested and taken into custody for drug handling", I explained to Vanessa whose mouth was open the entire time I recounted the events of that night, "He served a month sentence but they issued he had to be taken into rehab. Since then we kind of fell off",
I finished, thinking about the night Tristan and I argued.
