Are you going to prom?— Nessa 🫶🏽👩🏾

My eyebrows furrowed as I held my phone to my lap. It was the middle of biology, Mr Alfonso going on about something I had tuned out since sitting in my seat.

We still do those?— Me.

Isn't it a little early to be thinking about that? I never was one for parties. Anything that involved music and dancing wasn't my forte.

Mainly because I had two left feet and couldn't dance.

"Ow", I whisper as I feel a thump against my head. I turn around to see Tristan had throw a crumpled up paper at the back of my head. I looked at him in confusion but he only narrowed his eyes before looking back at Mr Alfonso.

I shook my head in disbelief, grabbing the paper and tossing it back at him. The way we interacted was weird. One second I felt like I was the scum of the Earth in his presence and the next he plays around with me like we're friends again.

It was so confusing.

I smiled as he threw me a playful look before turning back to my phone and typing back to Vanessa.

Do you wanna come over today?— me.

Uh duh! Yk i won't pass up an opportunity to not be in my house— Nessa 🫶🏽👩🏾

Mhm... more like not pass up an opportunity to see Justin 😂— me.

Stopppp!! I already told you I'm not interested😭😭— Nessa🫶🏽👩🏾

Yeah right, I think to myself, she has been throwing goo goo eyes at him since they met. I was pretty sure they were going to get together soon enough.

Good luck, Vanessa.

"Miss Poverly!".

I jump in my seat and quickly sit on my phone. Mr Alfonso stood right in front of me with his arms crossing his chest, "I'm sorry, is my teaching uninteresting to you?".

I curl my lips in. If we're being honest.. yeah. Of course I don't speak those words and instead shake my head quickly.

"Of course not sir—".

"Then I'd suggest you pay attention to this next section. Since we have a few students here who find themselves unable to pay attention, we're having a quiz!", Mr Alfonso announces with a sinister smirk on his face. The class groans, some's head falling on their desk in annoyance.

"Thanks a lot", One guy that sat next me mumbles. But he quickly turned as Tristan threw the paper he had thrown at me at him.

"Shut up, Nick", he whispers before ducking his head into his arms and lying down on the desk. The guy, Nick, rolls his eyes ignoring Tristan.

They must be friends. I snicker. Tristan having friends other then me (and Eli) was still astonishing to me. Not to say he couldn't make friends. More like he refused to.

We were similar in that way. We both hated talking to people we weren't close to.

"Oooh what about this one?", Vanessa asks after we take our seats outside. She was showing me some prom dress ideas she had on Pinterest.

"I like that one, the sparkles are cute".

Vanessa squeals, "I know right! Ooh we should match! What're your favorite colors?".

I had barely heard what she said. My focus was on Tristan who was dribbling a basketball on the court in front of us. I brought a tater tot up to my mouth as I watched him wipe away the sweat on his brow.
