3. The Name's Smith

The group of girls were silent after they heard the name as they looked at the blank space around them with blank eyes. Cold anger in their hearts as they heard a name from his lips.

Ophelia.

And they looked at each other, trying to see if any one of them had any familiarity with that name.

"Does anyone know who he was talking about?" Mei asked as she looked around.

All of them just shook their heads in denial or just verbally denied her which caused her to frown, something which the others did as well.

"Well, Senti, try to find the next memory. We need to know what happened after... that." Fu Hua said as she calmed herself down.

"Right." Senti said in a chilly cold tone as she used the Divine Key.

The others also calmed themselves down and watched as their surroundings changed, but now to their confusion they found Cain sitting on a chair in front of a table as he slowly opened his eyes.

"Where? Where am I?" Cain asked groggily as he opened his eyes.

He looked around in confusion and then he blinked when he saw a man appear on the other side of the table sitting on his own chair.

The girls were confused when the man appeared as they hadn't seen him, except for the ones from the previous era who froze when they saw him.

'Him?' Pardofelis thought to herself, something which was echoed by the other previous era members.

"Hello Cain." The man said to him with a smile.

"Who are you?" Cain asked after a few seconds.

"Just call me Smith. I know you're confused and don't worry, you aren't dead." Smith said to him with an easygoing tone.

"One of my arms and legs was cut off." Cain said to him with a deadpan.

"Yes, but they have healed." Smith said to him with a smile.

"What?" Cain asked in confusion.

"Wait, that's right. His body was perfectly fine when he came back." Theresa said as she looked around in confusion.

"Yes, there weren't any serious injuries on him. But, wasn't that when he manifested the stigmata of Death?" Ana asked as she looked at the others.

"Yes, that's what we inferred." Rita said to her with a nod.

"Let's just watch and see what happens." Wendy said as she looked at the screen.

Elysia, Eden, Aponia, Pardofelis, Fu Hua and Senti just looked at each other and then at the events.

"You have got the Stigmata of the Herrscher of Death, congratulations." Smith said with a smile.

"Huh?" Cain let out a noise in shock at that.

"Yes, if you don't believe me, then let me show you." Smith said as the place around them shifted.

Cain watched as the area around them shifted and then the room where he had went unconscious was shown. He looked at his prone form and at his mission limbs and gulped.

'I really lost them haven't I?' Cain thought to himself as he looked at his body.

"Oh Cain..." Mei said as tears appeared in her eyes.

The others were also saddened and crying at the state he is in, as they knew that he is in such a state because of him trying to help them as quickly as he could.
