Brooklyn and River explored the town for while and as she found her self in disbelief.
She had remembered her mom as being a great leader, and she was. After her husband died, however, the kingdom started to decline. She was working with grief on top of needing a new partner to aid with raising the kingdom and to help her add rights in the council of kingdoms.
Her kingdom, once rich and full of life was now poor and gloomy. At least they had their prideful princess, she thought.
Brooklyn had always been the pride kingdom. Since she was a baby the whole kingdom adored her, the first princess from the Lotus kingdom in years. They viewed it as a miracle.
Princesses had always been celebrated by the kingdom, she was the current face of the kingdom so of course everyone loved her. No matter what, as long as a princess was present, the kingdom was happy.
"I just don't get it!" Brooklyn shouted to River
"Get what?" River responded
"The kingdom is so gloomy, I remember it being so happy. Every time it's my birthday the kingdom-"
"The kingdom is happy to have something to celebrate." River interrupted. "The kingdom has always been in a great depression for centuries, but you are their hope," They started to look into the horizon at the setting sun. "And honestly, why would they not want to celebrate a pretty girl like you."
Brooklyn looked at them in shock, River looked away in embarrassment.
"Thanks." Brooklyn said as she took their hand. "I think you're pretty too."
River took a small gasp in shock and their face reddened. Brooklyn's did as well except for her it was of slight embarrassment but mostly love struck.
