"Stop, they'll be here any minute!" You giggled as Bella pressed a small kiss against your neck. Their arms were draped around your waist as you attempted to make your living room look as neat as humanly possible in the limited time you had left.
Just as you said this, the doorbell echoed through your brand new apartment, and you quickly made your way over to the door. "It'll all be fine." Bella reassured you right before you opened the door, revealing Gail, Jo, and the rest of your friend group.
They were all insanely busy with their own lives. Some with finals, and some with their stressful jobs, but they had all cleared up their schedule to visit you. It felt good to be worth people's time. "Oh my gosh!" Jo squealed, pulling you in for a hug before you had the chance to resist.
Your muscles tensed up, but relaxed merely seconds later as you decided to let your friend have this one moment. "It looks stunning!" Izzy's eyes scanned the apartment, and some of your friends already began to pick up various items that were displayed throughout the apartment.
It took a good minute before your friends realised you weren't the only one welcoming them into your home. Some of them put a hand over their mouth, while some just stood still. Amir was the first to introduce himself to the brunette actor who was standing barely a feet behind you, sort of protecting you of something you weren't sure about.
"Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Amir." He awkwardly stuck his hand out, waiting for an answer. Bella crossed eyes with you, shooting you a quick look before taking his hand and shaking it. "She's told me all about you guys." Bella smiled, trying to get rid of the nerves.
"She talked about us?" Jo opened her mouth, seemingly unable to close it again as she stared at the two of you in shock. "You're my friends. Of course I talk about you." You shook your head, your eyes traveling to Izzy, who had now started opening drawers, just like you had expected her to.
"You must be Jo then? I remember you from the premiere." Bella's eyes met Jo's and you giggled as you took in how starstruck she was by their presence. You had a sudden urge to hold the brunette's hand, so you did.
Now even Izzy had stopped doing whatever she was doing to look at the two of you. You had only told Jo and Gail about the relationship, so this was fresh new for the rest of your friends. "Oh my God, how long?" Izzy said, staring the your intertwined fingers.
You tilted your head and looked at Bella, genuine smiles on both of your faces as you looked back to answer your friend. "Two months. We started talking after the premiere and it just happened." You covered up the part where you left a restaurant in tears after talking about your past, and the fact that they were your first love, and you were theirs.
As your friends reacted, you took a minute to admire the apartment you got to call your home now. The film did great, if that wasn't perceptible already from the fact that you moved out of your old place. It did numbers, in fact, it was breaking records.
Several famous actors and directors spoke up about it, praising your work. Disney plus even closed on a deal with you, your short film now being far more accessible via the platform. A producer even offered you a job to direct an actual film.
Though it was already fully written, the writer of the script had told you she was looking for someone who could really bring her story to life, and that when she had seen your work, she was determined to get you on her staff.
With a multi million budget and your own trailer, you were set to spend the next five months directing the film, and you were more excited than ever. The future seemed even brighter, and frankly, you couldn't wait for everything that awaited you.
And as to Bella, the two of you fell right back in love after the kiss. Merely a week later, Bella asked you to be theirs, and now you had been feeling like the luckiest girl in the world for the past two months. It seemed that after all this time, the universe was finally on your side.
It wasn't easy to get over all the things that you had previously attempted to leave in the past. But instead of ignoring the subject, the two of you openly talked about it several times a week, and it showed you just how well of a decision the two of you had made by not letting go of one another just yet.
Now you couldn't imagine ever letting go of them, and you didn't have to. They were yours and you were theirs. At the end of the day, Bella was the one person who truly saw you for what you were. Without expectations and hopes, they took you for everything you stood for.
They never tried to change any part of you, and often reminded you of how much they loved you. It was unlike anything you had experienced before, and it felt good to finally be yourself after spending all your life in what felt like a cage.
You could finally breathe now, you were allowed to now.
