The wedding reception was well underway as I sat beside josh, laughing at Chris's failed attempt at the worm.
"I honestly can't believe he managed to get married before the rest of us." I mused, sipping my drink. Josh smiled warmly at our friend.
"Yeah. But I can't think of anyone that deserves this more. He was pining after Ash for years and now they're married....shit, he's going to turn into a 'my wife' guy." I laughed and shook my head.
"Hey, I was wondering if you'd like to dance?" I turned in my chair, surprised at the outstretched hand.
"Oh, well..." I glanced to josh, his eyes narrowed as he took a sip of his drink.
"That figure is too beautiful not to show off. the dress is nice too. Id like to get to know you better."
"Im flattered but-"
"I'm sure your brother won't mind if I took you out for a spin." I tried not to laugh as Josh practically slammed his glass down.
"One,she's not interested. Two,Y/n is here with me, three we've been dating for forever so your puny ass doesn't stand a chance And finally you wouldn't be her type anyway so fuck off."
"Geez, alright man." He put his hands up before turning on his heels and heading for the bar.
Josh fumed, staring after the strangers retreating form.
"Careful, if you stare after him like that much longer he'll go up in flames." I mused, picking up my drink once more.
"We should get married next." I choked.
"What?" I questioned, blinking.
"Well, he didn't see a ring so thought you're fair game." I rolled my eyes.
"Really? Josh, we cant just get married because some guy flirted with me at a wedding." I answered as his attention
"I don't want anyone looking at you like that. Youre with me. You belong with me."
"Come on, let's dance and show him exactly what he doesn't have." I mused, offering my hand to Josh who proudly took it.
"You enjoyed that, didn't you?" He questioned, leading me to the dance floor.
"The flirting, or watching you get all jealous?"
"I wasn't jealous. I was annoyed that he felt that he had the right to talk to you. When it's obvious that you are mine." He said, pulling me in by the waist and pressing his lips to mine. I leaned into it before pulling away just in time for Ashley to grab my arm.
"It's the bouquet toss!" She exclaimed tipsily.
"You'd better out your all into catching it." Josh mused sincerely. I blinked but before I could say anything, Ashley dragged me over to the small group of women.
As she moved in front of us, she threw it over her head. I stared as it landed right in front of me. I reached out and caught it.
Everybody was silent as I glanced at the group of girls around me, grinning like idiots.
"What?" I questioned. Emily rolled her eyes.
"Turn around."
I turned, my heart hammering wildly as I turned to find josh on one knee in the middle of the floor.
"Josh-"
"Y/n. We have been together for five years now. I knew from the moment I saw you, I would marry you. My family adores you as though you were already a part of the family so...let's make it official. Will you marry me?" I bit my lip and glanced to Ashley and Chris who were practically crying.
"Hurry up and answer him for gods sake." Beth practically yelled. I blinked and nodded.
"Verbal consent, y/n."
"Yes." He immediately pulled me into a tight embrace as Ashley and Chris screamed, wrapping their arms around us.
After we pulled away, josh slipped the ring over my finger. It was so undeniably meant for me, josh had clearly done his research into what I'd want to wear.
"No there's no doubt about it. You're mine and I'm yours." I mused, he smiled, pressing his forehead against mine.
"You're all I've ever wanted."
