ᴺᴼᵂ ᴾᴸᴬᵞᴵᴺᴳ : Shut up and Drive
"Baby you got the keys
now shut up and drive."
Renée Leclerc tried really hard to remind herself that no one expected her to be her parents. She knew that her parents just wanted her to enjoy life and do well; they made sure they always gave her the insurance that they were there for her...but it was hard.
Her parents were both world champions. Her mother was the first successful female racer in the sport, quickly followed by Anneli Räikkönen, with a good reputation in both racing and personality. She was ruthless on track but good for media content so people liked her being on the grid. Her father had been unlucky for most his career but when his time finally came, he didn't take it for granted.
Renée just wanted to make them proud, and her little siblings.
"How was your first media day?" Robyn questioned.
They were walking into the paddock for practice. Reneé had been exhausted on media day and hadn't spoken to her parents about it, choosing to go straight to bed instead.
"It was...average," said Renée. "The mechanics are lovely, everyone is. The media were nice to me."
"If they aren't, I can—"
"Mum, it's okay!" Renée insisted. "Please, please, don't interfere. You need to do your job as a presenter properly and pretend I'm not your daughter while there, okay?"
"I already made it clear I wouldn't treat you differently," Robyn promised. "If you drive good, I'll say so and when you don't, I'll say that too."
"Thank you," Renée sighed in relief.
"She'll tell you if you're shit!" Jules added with a toothy grin.
"Don't swear, Jules," Charles scolded. "Gabby is going to pick it up."
"He swears a lot," Gabrielle whispered as she clutched her father's hand.
"I know, it's a problem," Charles chuckled. "He doesn't get it from me."
"He gets it from Ash and Oli," Robyn sighed as she glared lightly at her son. "Jules?"
