Daniel and Heather Romalotti are discussing Sheila Carter's nuptials to Deacon Sharpe in L.A. when Lucy happens to overhear them referring to Sheila being Lucy's maternal grandmother when she returns home from school.
"Mom, Dad, who is this Sheila Carter that you refer to as my grandmother?" Lucy quizzed her parents.
"Lucy, we didn't realize you were home from school?" Daniels tells his daughter as he looks to Heather on whether or not to explain the whole story about Lucy's parentage.
After reluctantly telling Lucy the story of her parentage and Sheila Carter's history in Genoa City and Los Angeles, Lucy's interest is piqued by her grandmother who does an online search on her grandmother.
That's when Johnny Abbott stops by to see Lucy as Daniel tells him she is up in her bedroom, "Lucy, it's Johnny."

"Come in," Lucy tells him as he opens the door to see Lucy at her desk on her laptop.
"What are you doing?"
"Just some research," Lucy tells him.
"Anything interesting?"
"Just looking up my grandmother, Sheila Carter."
"Sheila Carter, isn't she from Genoa City?"
"Yes, she has a history with Lauren Fenmore Baldwin and it turns out has other children, one of whom lives in L.A. where Sheila Carter resides with her new husband Deacon Sharpe," Lucy tells Johnny. "And it got me thinking."
