Confusion

Seraphina's POV

I chase Rein down the hallways, calling his name. But he rushes through, not seeming to hear me.

Finally, he comes to a large and stops. I lean against the wall gasping and roll my eyes when he throws the door open and flies into the office.

His father's office, I realize.

Rein rushes forward and slams his hands down on the table, surprising me. His eyes flash a silver color, and anger shows on his face.

I just close the door and lean against it with a look of pure confusion on my face.

Daynan looks up with an eyebrow raised. "Is there a reason you are barging in here again for the second time today, right before a meeting?" He asks Rein with humor in his voice.

Rein growls slightly. "Normally, I wouldn't, especially since it is disrespectful towards my alpha. But when my alpha, my father, withholds information and lies to me, I feel that goes past respect. Because to be given respect, you have to earn it. You taught me that. You also say that any small piece of information is important in a situation where it's life or death. Right now, this mission has taken a life-or-death spin, and we've lost to many warriors because we didn't have her," Rein says, spinning and pointing a finger at me at the last part. I frown as he continues, "Now we have her, and you failed to mention her power. And I bet you have not even told her who she is or what she is?" He finishes with a growl.

I look to Daynan in confusion. He meets my yes and sighs, running a hand down his face. "Yes, I'll admit I've been a little... closed off about information. But I wasn't ready to provide any information until I knew for sure," he says calmly.

I cross my arms and stand straight. I feel a tingle in my fingers as I face Daynan. "Sure of what? What do you mean 'who I am'? Why is everyone being so weird? What is going on?!" I ask. The last line comes out loudly, and with an edge that makes Rein step back slightly.

Daynan tilts his head at me slightly. "Well, I guess now it's too late to not tell you. You're already too powerful to keep it a secret any longer. You hear whispers? Feel like tearing the place apart for no reason? Other things that you can't explain?" He asks.

At this point, I'm past confusion. There's a line into a world we're words can't explain, and I'm there. So, I nod slowly, waiting for him to continue and get me out of this feeling.

He nods back at me. "You're a werewolf, that we know for sure, but you are also more. We are not sure exactly what you are or what pack you're from, but we know you are very powerful, and there are some very angry people trying to kill you. Now, the whispers I know about only because I knew someone who had only a small piece of the power you have. The whispers are peoples thoughts," Daynan says.

Rein's eyebrows furrow. "Mind reading? So, what is she a hybrid with a vampire or something?" He asks.

I throw my hands up in exasperation. "Great... werewolves, vampires, what's next? Witches and fairies?" I ask with a hint of hysteria in my voice.

Rein rubs the back of his neck and avoids eye contact.

Daynan smiles slightly. "Yes, all of those are real. No, you are not a hybrid werewolf/vampire. At least we don't think you are. I will tell you all the magical creatures later. Right now, let me tell you what I know about you," he says.
