It had been almost a week since Casey got back to NewYork. And she had missed it, a lot. So much that she decided to stay longer than she was planning, and used work as an excuse.
Audrey and Rowan had left for China on Thursday morning, she was supposed to as well but she wanted some extra time in NewYork. Casey also wanted to record some of the songs she'd been working on, which she could do on Thursday and Friday before flying out to China on Saturday morning.
Oscar had told her he was going to be really busy on Thursday and Friday anyway with media stuff, so she didn't have much of a reason to go. Carmen was going to China with George so he'd be spending all his time with her too.
So now on Friday morning, she was alone in her apartment for the first time in along time. It was nice to be able to walk around in her underwear, sing at the top of her lungs and cook food that Audrey had labelled as too 'smelly'. Casey hadn't ate eggs in her apartment in, she even didn't know how long, because Audrey found the smell repulsive. It was also nice to be able to take up as much space on the sofa as she wanted and not be kicked or have something thrown at her for it.
It was early afternoon when she headed out of her apartment and to the studio. Casey liked driving, but driving in NewYork made her feel such anger that she thought she might turn into the hulk at some point on her way to record. When she got to the studio, she collapsed onto one of the leather sofas and went over somethings with the sound engineer. Casey loved the studio, she felt so at home there.
That's probably why she didn't leave until 10pm that night. However, at least she was done on all three songs. Audrey and Rowan still had to go and record their parts, but they could do that whenever they liked.
Casey could play the guitar, but not as near as well as Audrey. And she wasn't even going to attempt playing the drums. She could have called in other people to do it of course, but she liked making music with her friends. It made it even more special. In thirty years when she's listening back to her music, she's going to be able to listen and know that what she can hear is Rowan on the drums and Audrey on the guitar and vocals.Sometimes she thought of her albums and EPs as little memory books. She just knew she was going to adore them in her older age.Casey hadn't even decided if she was definitely releasing a new album and she was absolutely no where near finishing it if she was. But Casey found that just prodding away one song at a time was the best way for her to come away with a full album. Her album 'Good Riddance' wasn't planned, it kind of just fell together and she took it from there; smoothing out all the rough edges out and compiling an aesthetic and theme for it.
If what Casey was doing now was going to lead to another album, then she was excited. Especially if the focus may or may not be Oscar. Speaking of Oscar, her phone rang as soon as she made her way up the stairs of her apartment. It was Oscar. God knows what time it was in China. "Hey, OP." Casey said, unlocking the front door. "Hey, E."
"Everything okay? Why are you calling me?" Casey asked as she walked in to her apartment and turned on the light. "I just wanted to hear your voice. That allowed?" He asked. "Yes, Oscar. That's allowed." Casey chuckled, throwing her keys down on the table by the door. "It's sweet actually."
"Well, you know me. A real ray of sunshine." He said, sarcasm dripping of his words like a sweet honey and Casey ate very bit of it up. "Yeah, if you mean eighty-year-old grump." Casey corrected and she could hear him chuckle over the phone, sending butteries to swarm her belly. "I miss you." He said, his voice soft and smile broke out on Casey's face. "Yeah, I miss you too." Casey bit down on her lip to stop her smile from growing even bigger. "But hey, I'll be there tomorrow night." Casey said, crossing her apartment to her bedroom.
