Music is such a great thing. I mean who doesn't love music? It's one of those things that can make any situation better. Music is pretty important to me now when I think about it. Playing music is practically what I do to survive. Ha!
Whenever I'm not in school or running track, I'm either playing bass in the streets of Shimokitazawa or working at the lovely music store, Boxy's! Since I love music so much why not work at a music store?
Surely nothing could go wrong right?...
See, the first two weeks were pretty nice. People came for all sorts of reasons. Some came to buy new instruments, some had to get theirs repaired, some people wanted to buy their first instrument and others simply just wanted to look around. Can't blame them.
Everything was normal until she showed up...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Could I please get this bass for half the price? I'm a little low on cash and it's been such a struggle-"
"Nu uh! You need to pay full price! Take it or leave it!"
A blue haired girl came in pleading to let her buy a jazz bass. It was all black, one of the nicer ones we had for display.
"How about I give you something in return?" She says with a wink.
"....."
Is she that desperate?
I burst out laughing.
"That's funny. But there's no way you're serious! If you keep on insisting, I'll have to ask you to leave!"
She frowns and lets out a sigh.
"Okay."
She puts the bass away and leaves.
That was... rather easy.
She was so persistent and now she just gave up. What an odd girl.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She's back...
The very next day she stood in front of me yet again. But this time she had held a blue colored jazz bass instead of the black one.
"Uh... please tell me you have money for this."
The girl gives a smug smile.
"Let's play a game. You have to guess if I have money or not. If you guess right, I leave, but if you guess wrong, I get to have this bass."
"Hm..."
I shouldn't be doing something like this with a customer. But then again, I doubt she has money. So, I should just play along, right?
"Alright, sure-"
Wait a second!
She might have brought money with her this time. It would make sense as to why she gave up so easily yesterday and decided to come the next day instead.
I mean...
Even if I guess wrong, it's not like I actually have to do anything.
Wait but what if she's poor?
What if she just needs a bass to play to make some money to help live? I was a bit hard on her yesterday but only because it felt like she was just doing it to get what she wanted easily.
