"You think it's all over. Get up and try again. You've got to act your age, darling. Before you fall back in"  YOUNG - Vacation

Samantha's POV

Outside, the world seemed different—colors more vibrant, air fresher. I allowed myself to feel the weight of my choice and, beneath it all, the budding hope for something new, something that I will prioritize as my health.

Across town, I sat on the plush living room carpet of Caroline's condo, surrounded by an array of photo albums and mementos they'd dug out from storage. My sister's gentle presence was like a balm, grounding me amidst the chaos of our emotions.

"Remember this one?" Caroline chuckled, pointing to a photo of a much younger me with braces and a bright smile.

"Ugh, don't remind me, "I groaned playfully, but my heart wasn't in it.

"I wish things were that simple again."

Caroline's expression softened, her eyes meeting mine with a deep understanding only a sister could provide. "Sam, I know it's too soon, but you're doing the right thing. You're choosing you, and that's the bravest choice of all. All I can hope is for you to prioritize your health. Do you like to keep your career?"

I leaned into Caroline's side, soaking up the comfort of her words. "I just feel so lost, Caro. Like I'm starting over, and I don't even what to do if I quit. I can leave the country and go to a place. Somewhere quiet. Somewhere, no one knows me."

"That's exactly why you need to be brave. I know you can surpass this. I'll be in every step of the way," Caroline insisted, her voice firm yet kind.

"You are Samantha Miller—intelligent, fiercely passionate, and the woman who doesn't need anyone to define her. You may have that damn heart disease, but don't let it stop you from moving forward."

"Thanks," I whispered, a tear escaping despite her best efforts.

"Hey," Caroline said, wiping the tear away.

"What are sisters for, if not to remind you how amazing you are?"

A faint smile touched my lips. "And to kick my butt when I forget?"

"Exactly," Caroline confirmed with a grin. "Now, let's order some healthy takeout and plan your next move. You've got a world to conquer, sis."

As the night deepened, I felt the weight of my decision settling around me. Breaking free from the cycle of abuse and cheating was terrifying, but with my sister by her side and the unwavering support of my friends, I knew I would find my way.

"Thank you," I murmured, my gaze steady and determined. "For everything."

"Always," Caroline replied, squeezing my hand. "We'll get through this together."

Lando's POV

I slumped into the leather couch, the dim evening light casting long shadows across my sparsely decorated apartment. I stared at the silent television screen, its blank face mirroring the void I felt swelling inside me. My fingers drummed an erratic rhythm on the armrest, betraying the turmoil that churned beneath my composed exterior.

"Sam," I muttered to myself, each syllable heavy with doubt.

I also thought of Rachel and the baby she's carrying. I also think of Sam's condition. Ria isn't spilling any beans on us, and she said Sam was fine, but we don't believe her. I don't think it, specifically.
