"Never wanna leave this room. Daydream, déjà vu. If I had control over you" RED COLORED LENSES - Miley Cyrus

Samantha's POV
As I got home from my breakup with Stephan, I went straight to my room, cried, and reflected on how I had made the right decision. My phone vibrated against the wooden surface of my bedside table, the sound abrupt in the quiet of my room. I reached out, wiping my tears as my fingers brushed against the cool glass, and picked it up with a sense of foreboding that seemed to tighten my chest.
"Hello?" I answered tentatively, my voice betraying nothing of the sudden spike in my pulse.
"Is this Samantha Miller?" The voice was distorted, slightly metallic—a clear sign of voice modulation. It sent a prickle of unease down my spine.
"Yes, speaking," I replied, sitting up straighter, my eyes narrowing in suspicion. Who would be calling me using a voice modulator?
"I don't have much time. It would be best if you listened closely," the voice continued, urgent.
"The truth about Rachel Anderson isn't what you think. There's more at play here."
"Who is this? What are you talking about?" My mind raced, her guarded tone now tinged with curiosity. Instinctively, I glanced around as if the walls themselves might yield answers.
"Look into the DNA test. It's not..." The call abruptly cut off, leaving an ominous silence in its wake.
"Hey! Hello?" I pressed the phone to my ear, but all I heard was the dial tone. Whoever had been on the line was gone. I tossed the phone beside me, feeling the weight of unanswered questions settling heavily on my shoulders. I immediately called Caroline and told her what had happened, and she immediately went to my house.
"Who was it?" Caroline asked from the doorway, concern creasing her brow as she watched my perplexed expression.
"Someone warning me about Rachel," I murmured, still trying to make sense of the cryptic message.
"They said to look into the DNA test."
"Rachel? As in Lando's Rachel?" She stepped closer, his intrigue piqued by the mention of the woman who had been a source of such turmoil of mine.
"Yeah," I confirmed, my thoughts swirling. The mysterious call couldn't be a coincidence, not with everything that had happened.
"But the line went dead before they could tell me anything else."
"Could it be some sort of prank?" She ventured though the skeptical lift of her eyebrows suggested she doubted her suggestion.
"Maybe." I chewed her lip, considering. "But my gut tells me there's more to it. I can't ignore this, Caro."
I leaned into her embrace; I couldn't shake the feeling that the path ahead would only lead to further complications. I knew one thing for sure—Rachel's web of deceit was far from unraveling.
"Be careful, Samantha," Caroline warned softly, as if reading my thoughts.
"We don't know what we're dealing with yet." I nodded silently, my resolve hardening. Whatever secrets lay buried, I would uncover them. But at what cost?
As night fell and the stars blinked to life outside my window, I lay awake, the enigmatic call echoing in my mind. A storm was coming, and I was right in its eye.
