• Chapter 19: Assistance •

[University Activity Pod, 9am, Next Day]

Mayukh POV:

I made my way to the activity pod where everyone was sitting. I saw Riya there and I thought to avoid her but she caught me.
"Hey Mayukh!" Her screeching voice echoed.
"Hi." I said.
"I was wondering if we can put the past behind us."
"We can, but only if you promise not to trouble her anymore."
She stiffened, "Why does it bother you if I do?"
"I don't like those who showcase their power out loud, you must be aware she worked hard for this and threatening that isn't cool." I said.
I saw her hesitate, "I... I didn't threaten that."
"Oh really." I said, folding my arms.
"Okay! I did, but that's only to give her what she wants."
"And what's that?"
"I have promised to give her the university life she wants, I won't trouble her."
"You better not. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm quite busy."

I walked out and saw Ved and grabbed him, "I was right. She made some deal with her."
"What?"
"Follow me."
I took him and we walked towards the accommodations, "So she did say something that day. I just don't know what she said. I tricked her today by saying something along those lines of keeping her away from me and threatening her scholarship because that seems like a very Riya thing to do."
"How are we going to confirm what she said?"
"I think I have an idea!" I said.

Mayukh and Ved made their way to Tulip Towers.
"Why are we here?" Ved asked.
"To get answers and get a plan." Mayukh said.
They walked upstairs to the apartment: 203.
"You know her flat also?" Ved teased.
"Shut up." Mayukh chuckled.
They rang the doorbell of flat 203, only for it to be opened by Aisha.

Mayukh POV:

"Hey... guys!" Aisha asked, she was clearly surprised to see us.
"Hey." Ved said, and I smiled and repeated.
"What are you guys doing here?" She asked.
"We wanted to talk about Nikita." I said.
"Oh. Yeah. Come in." She said and held the door.
We walked inside and she sat us on the couch.
"Is she here?" Ved asked.
"Yeah. She's sleeping."
"Doesn't she have class today?" I asked.
"She does, but she's not feeling well, so she's sleeping."
"Not feeling well? What happened to her?"
"She woke up with a little fever, so she cancelled class and she's sleeping tight now."
"I see." I nodded, looking towards her room.
"So, what did you guys need to ask?" Aisha said.
"Right. Umm. Mayukh you lead this." Ved said, pulling me out of my trance.
"What? Oh. Yeah." I said, shifting my focus and attention towards the two people in front of me, "I don't know if she's told you and I don't know if it's obvious but I like her."
"I know." Aisha said, chuckling, "it's obvious and she told me."
"She told you? That I like her?"
"No she just told me briefly about her meetings with you. It's easy to figure, she's dumb!"
"Yeah!" I smiled, "I need your help."
"In?"
"Winning her."
"Go on."
"She seems very... scared of me."
"I've noticed that too. She's scared of me as well." Ved added, "I didn't even like meet her."
"Right... umm... so if you guys don't know, she got a scholarship to study here."
"We're aware." I said.
"Right, so she is really scared about that scholarship because she doesn't come from a very well off family, and they've already got her brother's education loan to pay off, which is in pounds so it's heavy. She wanted to study here so she could get the abroad education without actually going abroad, and so she can save a few bucks. She's simultaneously applying for jobs so she can earn a little and support her family."
I didn't know she had these issues.
"... so she's just scared of getting involved with you guys because she has a lot to lose."
"What about the thing with Riya?" Ved asked.
"She didn't ask for any of it. Riya insulted her publicly and called her a slut. Then, the next day she called her off again when you defended her. She got scared that you took a stand for her, because that means Riya comes to her more."
"I'm not gonna let Riya say anything to her."
"I know."
"Is that why she left in anger yesterday? From class?" I continued.
"About that." Aisha said, "Riya offered her a deal."
"A deal?!" I exclaimed, "what deal?!"
"She offered her a deal that states that if she stays away from you then Riya would help get her all the benefits of the university."
"All benefits meaning?"
"Meaning she'd help Nikita get in the MUN debates and give her extra credit and what not, basically just give her the best university experience to boost her grades and career."
"And in return she has to stay away from me."
"Yeah."
"I mean, she's already away from me. She never comes to me."
"Yeah that's the fear."
"Well. Thanks for letting me know this Aisha." I said, smiling, "I appreciate it."
"Hey, for the record, I do ship you guys!"
I chuckled, "Thank you!"
"I did as well, ever since I found out he danced with her, insane!" Ved said.
"I swear!" Aisha added.
I enjoyed this. I enjoyed seeing them ship us and make this happen.
"Can I... see her?" I asked.
"Yeah, her room is on the left." Aisha said.

I got up and started walking towards her room. Aisha has no idea that I've been in this room before. I entered her room and saw her sleeping wrapped in the blanket. Her room was tidy, as it always is, and the window was kept closed, unlike usual. The AC was turned on, the blinds were shut, it was a cozy atmosphere.
I walked over to her and touched her forehead.
The fever was gone now!
I smiled and caressed her face while holding one of her arms.
"You're going to be mine, love." I whispered, "Riya can keep you away as much as she wants, but in the end, Mayukh always wins."

I put her hand back in her blanket and placed something on her bedside table. After that, I left.

I walked out to seeing Aisha and Ved talking.
"Right, I have to leave." I announced.
"Me too! I have class." Ved added.
"I do too." Aisha said.
"Isn't your class going on?" I asked her.
"No it's at 10am."
"Oh cool! We can go together."
"Yeah, sure! I don't mind. Let me just get my bag." Aisha said and we nodded.

As she went, Ved came closer, "Had fun looking at your girl while she's asleep?" He teased.
"Shut up! But yes I did." I smirked.
"What's your game plan?"
"Well—" before I could continue, Aisha walked in with her stuff, I noticed her and added, "Now that you're here too, would you be okay to helping me get Nikita?"
"I don't mind, but it won't be easy." She warned.
"I like challenges." I smirked.
"So what's the plan?" Ved asked.
"Well, she would want to stay away from me, but that's not happening. I will first deal with Riya once and for all. She's interrupting me. Till then, Aisha... would your friends and Nikita be interested in a Mumbai trip with our gang?" I smirked.
"Hell yes we would!"
"Great! So this Saturday it is. I'll sort details out."
"Perfect." Aisha said.
"Aight let's go!" Ved added, "We'll be late."
"Yep, let's go! Nikita isn't awake yet so I don't think she's joining." Aisha said and we nodded.

We closed the door and made our way to class. I saw Riya staring at me with annoyance and lust in her eyes. Time to put her in her place.
