Tails' POV

I woke up in a tree and instantly thought 'What the heck am I doing here?' When I remembered what I had just saw. Running, Metarex, White Seed. What did it all mean? Oh well, I have to get to Cream's house as soon as possible, or I'm sure they would send out a search party. I propelled my tails which caused me to lift off the ground and fly. I thought about the first time I flew.

It was back in preschool, someone was making fun of my tails like usual. He said that the only way people would accept that I had two tails was if I could do something cool with them. I had argued and told him that I could fly. He didn't believe me, so I wound up my tails and found myself lifting off the ground. I was so surprised that I just stopped spinning them and fell to the ground. Sure, people laughed at me, but it was one of the best moments in my life. I had proved to somebody that I wasn't that big of a freak.

I shook myself out of my thoughts as I descended and landed at Cream's doorstep. I took a deep breath, trying to rid myself of the visions I've been getting throughout today. The chime of the doorbell echoed throughout Cream's house and footsteps could be heard pitter-pattering toward the door. It swung open and I was greeted with Cream's smiling face. "Hi Tails!" She beamed a little too bright.

"Hey Cream," I smiled back.

"Come in," she stepped back from the door to allow for me to come in. I stepped in and was greeted by everyone from the Blue Typhoon, well, at least everyone that made it back.

"Now that our captain's here we can get this party started!" Sonic exclaimed with a grin on his face. I couldn't help but smile back. Sonic always had this way of making me smile even at the worst possible time. Everyone cheered and Cream turned on some music and set out a bunch of games she had like Apples to Apples and Twister. We settled on a game of Monopoly which I knew everyone, except me, hated. I guess it was their way of cheering me up.

"I better get going guys," I said as I helped stack the cards into the box after I had won. "My parents are coming home tomorrow and the house is a mess."

"Do you want us to help?" Cream asked.

"You don't have to help if you don't want to," I replied, putting the lid on the Monopoly box.

"I will," Cream and Amy said at the same time, smiling.

"I'll go, but I am not vacuuming," Sonic said.

"Thanks guys!" I exclaimed. We said goodbyes to everyone then went on our way to my house. Since Cream and I could fly, we carried Amy and Sonic above the trees so we didn't have to go on foot.

It seemed like the house was worse than what I had remembered: Dust was on any and every piece of furniture, there was a rotten smell coming from the kitchen, the carpet was a shade darker than what I left it, and flies were absolutely everywhere. "You might want to go to the grocery store, bud," Sonic said while scrunching his nose at the smell of rotten fruit. "When was the last time your parents stayed here?"

"They left the day after we did," I replied. My parents were the type of parents that always worry about what their kid is doing, so instead of staying here stressing about me, my mother had the wonderful idea of going on a trip to the mountains with Dad.

"I'll go to the store for you Tails," Cream suggested and then left with Cheese trailing behind her.

"I guess I'll start vacuuming since Mister Scared-of-the-Vacuum-Cleaner won't," Amy smirked at Sonic. He just rolled his eyes and grabbed the duster.

"It's not my fault they're loud and make things clean," Sonic muttered under his breath.

I walked into the rank kitchen and threw out all the rotten food. I checked all the expiration dates and was left with a quarter of the food that I started with, most of which was canned goods. Cream came back five minutes after I finished going through the entire kitchen with enough to replace what I had thrown out. "Thanks Cream," I smiled at her.

"No problem," She smiled back. "Ahem... Well I guess I'll help Sonic and Amy."

"Yeah, uh, me too," I replied awkwardly. Please don't let her have a crush on me, or me on her. That is the last thing we need at this moment.

"Tails! The phone is ringing. Do you want me to answer?" Amy called from the living room.

"It's alright, I got it," I pick up the home phone and say "hello?"

"Tails! Is that really you? Oh my goodness sweetheart, how we've missed you," my mother was on the other side.

"Yup, it's me. I've missed you too mom. How's your trip?" I ask, trying to sound interested. I make a motion with my hand letting Amy know to shut the vacuum off.

"It's wonderful dear! Never mind about me, we'll talk all about it when we get home. In fact, we're at the airport now waiting for our flight. We'll see you in the morning my sweet. I love you!"

"Love you too," the phone beeped indicating she hung up. "I can take care of the house from here you guys. Thank you for helping," I smiled at them trying to convince them I was okay enough to be left alone.

"It was no problem at all. Night bud," Sonic said as he left. Amy and Cream said goodnight as they walked out of the door. After debating with myself on whether or not to sleep on the couch or bed, I decided I was too lazy to walk upstairs to my bedroom so I fluffed up a decorative couch pillow and cuddled up underneath the throw blanket. I was asleep for probably less than ten minutes before I heard a loud bang upstairs in what sounded like my room. The first thought I had was that it was a robber, so I ran into the kitchen grabbing a steak knife then slowly ascended the staircase. Once I reached my bedroom I kicked the door open, holding the knife out in front of me. I had expected a thief with a ski mask holding my piggy bank ready to make a run for it, but instead I got Cosmo looking at me with a confused expression before face-planting into the hardwood floor.
