"You do know that I'm fully capable of walking back by myself, right? You don't have to do this." Maelani said as they walked side by side. She gazed up at the stars that glittered in the sky like diamonds against ebony silk.

It was a lovely night and the two beings walked in its brisk embrace, talking and laughing amongst each other. To anyone else, they looked like a couple that had been together for years. They weren't though. They were simply two different, yet slightly similar souls shedding their tough skin and enjoying each other's company as much as they could.

"I know, but I want to. Ion get why you choose to walk out hea anyways, it's dangerous ma." Von slowed his steps, making her do the same.

"I find walking comforting. Plus, the place I'm staying at isn't even far. And a little danger never hurt nobody." She mused with a mischievous grin.

He glanced down at her as he let out a chuckle, the deep, raspy sound sending tingles down her spine.

"Ion know what it is, but something about you just screams different."

A small grin formed on Maelani's lips as she shook her head in amusement, "You just saying anything at this point to ease your way in my drawls and touch where I pee at, huh?"

A laugh escaped him, deep and loud with his head thrown back momentarily. She couldn't help the genuine smile that spread on her face as she stared up at him. She loved his smile. The way his eyes got adorably smaller as his diamond grills were on display. He even had faint dimples in his cheek. Dayvon was hands down, the most beautiful man she had ever seen.

Von shook his head, looking down at her with a grin as their eyes clashed. They had only talked for some portion of the night and he already found himself drawn to her for some reason. She was attractive as hell, probably the most attractive woman he's ever encountered. But it wasn't just her appearance that attracted him to her, it was her humor, the way she spoke, and the fact that he smiled with her tonight more than he's ever smiled in years. Her eyes held secrets, secrets that he desired to unfold. Maelani was a puzzle that he had been trying to solve the whole night. He knew there was more to her that reached the naked eye.

She stood in front of him, the wind blowing in her face making her squint her eyes as she looked up at him, "It was nice talking to you, Dayvon."

Maelani felt a little saddened by their parting but she was certain that after tonight, the handsome man before her would eventually fade from her memories. They would remain mysteries to each other until fate declared otherwise.
