Sam's P.O.V
I sat on the waiting bench, look around I was literally the only one present and I had no idea why waiting was an option. The air conditioning was on but I still felt the heat. I was something simple. A camouflage pants and white top, see... simple.
"Samantha Daniels" Someone from inside the office
"Finally" I exhale sharply.
Walking into his office I have a salute
"Stand Easy" He's huge militarial voice boomed without sparing her a glance
"Your letter" he said throwing across the table for her
"To save you the shock.." he began " You've been assigned to the outskirts battle line seeing that immediate reinforcement is needed and you all happened to be a graduating at the right time" he finally looked upAlthough this wasn't what she wanted but this was what she trained for
"If you need help or you don't like where you've been assigned to you can go to the complain office and drop you complain" his tone sounding final and dismissive.
Drawing deep breath, she held the letter with determination and gave a salute before she walked out. No way she was going to drop a complain, not that it will be answered for attended to.
She looked at the letter and opened it, as he said that was how it written, a number below to help.
"Hello?" She called
"Yes! How many we help you?"
"I was despacted and there's a num...
"Of course meet us at Veronica 5th street" the person at the other end said before ending the call
"Us?"It's like a 7 minutes drive but I had to stop for a good afternoon meal, cos like Joe hell camp is... you'll not be able to eat good food again in a long while
There was a bus at the meeting place only for me to discover that I wasn't the only one to be recruited to this place. They had stern looks on their face nobody wanted to look scared.
"Gather up worms" A woman spoke. She was a beautiful blonde but that beautiful has been scarred because of war. The war every one was scared of. The said war between mortals and immortals. The war that took my brother. I wasn't going to be a weakling. I was a little disappointed to find out I wasn't dispatched to the battle field, i would have argued about it but the first rule was to follow orders, so I figured battle front lines can also be way for me to get to the front regardless and I'll do whatever it takes."We don't want anyone peeing on their pants, it's a war front not a drill, those monsters are worst than you think, I wouldn't be the one to tell you but be scared.." she smirked "Rule one says what!" She shouted
"Follow Orders!" We all responded
"Not just orders, superior orders! And second stick together, wish you the best of luck" she said giving us a little nod
We got into the bus and I kept mine next to the window so that I could get a first class of view of the road.Another man which I suspected to be our senior walked in arching a brow at all of us. He's eyes kept scanning all of us, until he stopped at me and he gasped. He turned to the lady that address is a few minutes earlier.
"Capt. Loreen" he called tapping her furiously as she was busy going through a list
"What! Luke" she yelled
"Look" he pointed at me regardless of the stares he receivedThe lady I just knew to be Captain Loreen look at me with the same shocked look on her face.
"You!" She gasped. I arched a brow giving them a bored look
"Am here, am here" a guy came running towards the bus, his hair way was out of place because of runningThank goodness the distraction ce along if not they'll keep looking at me like I had something on it
"Victor!" The captain exclamaimed "you're late"
"I know, I know am sorry, I got caught up" he said giving them a boyish grin showing a slight dimple. I won't deny he looks good, I mean handsome, what does he want in the military?
