Chapter 4

The moment my head met with my pillow I slept off. The rest were out for the usual training. Just Leo and four more others were still on their beds sleeping. We had three hours to sleep and an extra hour to get ready before we show up for breakfast

Breakfast was quiet. Too quiet. The seniors went out immediately for meeting. Everyone looked alert. Except my table
"Hey, any idea why the hall seems spooky?" Leo asked putting a piece of cabbage in his mouth. Victor looked around before whispering.

"Brigadier general, Theresa said that they were coming"
My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach
'she wasn't lying then' I said to myself

"I have no idea how she knows but being in the army and having to deal with them has its perks" Victor said
It's seems it was today, the day I had to do all I can. Adrenaline rushed through me. Leo and I shared a look. We knew what they were like
"Their immortals" I blurted out. I wasn't one to make friends on a battle field so that the loss of one solider wouldn't be my weakness

"I guessed so"

"What?" Asked looking between I and Leo.
Leo shrugged" we use special weapons and if not shot in the right place will mean no harm to them"

"Dammit!"
The alarm blared. And everyone rose from their seats. So gossip spreads so fast here then

Everyone rushed out from the cafeteria to the weapons room. Orders were thrown to each battalion by their commander-in-charger. Rushed speeches and short reminder on how to bring down and enemy was said something that I felt was thought to them will those on night due were asleep.

"They're headed to the city" Someone shouted.

  Finally, some action.

Many were deployed but my battalion was left to stay behind.
"It ain't bad you know" some guy said coming to my side as we stood blocking the boundaries. I thought ignoring him would be better but he kept talking
"Aye, you know familiar, you know" he exhaled licking his bottom lip
"You remind me of a brother, a strong willed soilder, he'd never be the one to back down." His voice came out solemn making me to spare him a glance
"He begged to deployed in the city to be close to his one relative, family comes first you know. By the time he went and couldn't find the relative he became a shadow of himself. He swore to fight to his very last. He was awarded a chief Commander. You know, Jerry, really put his family first"
That name got me turning to face him
"You know, I wonder how he would feel to know that relative had been in the army, maybe looking for him?" He smirked as he looked at me. My eyes widened in realization

"You know Jerry?"
"Jerry Daniels you mean?" He smirked
Tears threatening to fall from my eyes. He's alive. He's been in the military all this while

"Where is he?" I swallowed hard
"As I said he's fight currently in the city". Adrenaline shot up in my blood, I wanted to meet.

"Go, I'll cover for you"
"Thank you" I simply said

The City looked messed up as always. The smell of blood and sweat. Battle cry and commands, people running frantically, small shouts from the children and yelling if mothers. I know they soliders are trying their best because they was much blood coming from families. I had to look for a familiar face

Theresa was running towards my direction with a walkie talkie shouting something into it. She saw me and paused

"Sam! Come over it's not safe" she shouted. She got to my side.
"I need to find my brother" I said looking at her eyes
"Whatever for?"
"He's alive!" Was the only thing I could mutter
"Jerry?" She said searching my eyes for any clue
"You know him too?"
"Just now that I realize" she smiled
She brought out a danger from her uniform
She took my hand and toremy flesh with the dagger. I winced but she held my hand in place.
