Chapter 4. Forming a Contract?

Everyone scrambled as they all tried to get away from the great spirit of murder. The wind around the area getting more and more intense with each passing second.

Without even wasting a second, the woman sent a deadly wind blade towards the two swordsmen as they quickly dodged.

"Holy shit! She's actually trying to kill us!"

"She isn't called the Great Spirit of Murder for nothing Su-san! More importantly what is she doing here?"

Halibel wondered aloud as he landed on a nearby roof of a building while Subaru landed on another roof across from him.

The woman sent out another one, but not at Halibel. It was aimed towards Subaru.

"?!"

The boy quickly dodged it again.

'She's only going for me?! What for, I don't remember meeting her anywhere. . .shit! I can't stay here, otherwise she'll just end up destroying the rest of the town!'

Subaru thought in alarm as he turned around and ran away, using his spirit energy to give him a physical boost in speed.

". . .!"

The reaper gave chase as she used her wind magic to keep up with him.

All the while Halibel watched as he sighed.

"Damn it Subaru. . .you're going to do something reckless if I'm not there. Guess I have no choice but to tag along...but then again he should have this in the bag regardless, I'll just go check on the kid."

The wolf-man took a quick puff of his kiseru before he quickly vanished from the scene, following the two individuals.

As Subaru made it to an open clearing, his assailant appeared not too long after him, glaring daggers at the piece of shit in front of her as the raging wind followed.

". . .Before we start, may I know why exactly you're attacking me? I don't want to cut you down or anything cause I honestly have no reason to do so."

Subaru calmly asked.

". . ."

He received no response as he sighed and began to unsheathe his wakizashi.

"Alright then. . .have it your way."

Without wasting anytime, the reaper began to send out a multitude of wind slashes towards Subaru as he evaded them with skill, making sure to keep his distance as those wind blades brutally cut anything clean in half upon contact.

'I'll need to be quick and maintain my distance while fighting her. Those wind blades she's sending out could really kill. . .'

Subaru began to take a deep breath as he began to be enveloped by a dark aura of some kind before speed blitzing around the area as he was covered in shadows of some kind, catching the reaper off guard as she tried to shoot out more wind blades.

But Subaru either fazed through them or quickly moved out the way. Subaru would call this move "Shadow Mode". Using his spirit energy to activate his sorcery. Ever since his fight with Halibel, he has since expanded on his abilities and what he could do with his sorcery aside from using his enchanted blade.

Shadow mode simply covered him in shadows, allowing him to freely travel to places he's already been or fazing through attacks or even traveling in a shadow at a speed relatively close to whenever he uses Orenji.
