Instructor Shadis is making the cadets run in the rain, carrying heavy bags while he rides on a horse to keep track of the trainees.

Shadis: What's wrong, Arlert? You're the only one behind! Is it too heavy for you?! Would you like to be the only one not carrying a pack?!

He rode on ahead and left him behind.

Then, Y/n and Reiner appeared behind him.

Reiner: Give me that, Armin!

He grabs his bag.

Armin: Reiner...

Y/n: Armin, hang on!

He grabs Armin's arm and he helps him run.

Armin: Y/n...

Y/n: You'll fail here, Armin. Hurry.

Armin: B-But if you help me... Then you'll fail too!

Y/n: We're a team, Armin! If one of us is left behind, then that team is ought to fail!

Reiner: And make sure we don't get caught...! At least until I change my mind!

Reiner covered Armin as Y/n helped Armin run.

Shadis already knew.

Shadis thoughts: Reiner Braun... He's strong as an ox and has the will to match. But more than anything, he's earned the trust of his comrades.

Armin gritted his teeth and got off Y/n, and he grabbed his bag from Reiner and he ran on ahead.

Armin: I won't be a burden! Even if I die trying!

Y/n: Hey!

He quickly runs to his side.

Shadis thoughts: Armin Arlert... When it comes to physical strength, he doesn't measure up to soldier standards. But I hear that in the classroom lectures, he's shown extraordinary imagination. If he acquired a sense of direction... Or perhaps...

He looks towards Y/n, who made sure Armin was okay before continuing on ahead.

Shadis thoughts: Y/n Yeager... He's as strong as everyone else, if not much stronger than everyone. His skills are almost impossible to even size or compare to anyone, and he is considered to be a super soldier. His resolve is hundreds of times more stronger than anyone, and he keeps on improving every day and night. He cares deeply about his comrades and will not leave anyone behind, no matter what.

It's now Vertical Maneuvering Gear Training, and the cadets are currently in a forest, locating wooden titan targets.

Shadis followed them from behind, observing them all in silence.

Jean was about to execute a target, when Annie and Bertholdt immediately came in and slashed the target point at the same time.

Shadis thoughts: Annie Leonhart... The angle of approach of her slashing attack is impeccable... She carves deeply into the target. Personality-wise, she tends to be a loner and has trouble cooperating.

He looks at Bertholdt.

Shadis thoughts: Bertholdt Hoover... He's mastered every single skill that's been taught... And I believe he has a lot of potential... But he lacks drive and tends to leave decisions to others.
