Chapter 9

I walked back into my room. No one was pounding on my door, demanding to know where I'd been, so that was good.

I was bored. Where was Grayson?

I logged onto my computer. I had a feeling he wasn't in the House, but I needed to verify.

Typing in the password (Appl3sAUc3!), I checked his tracker.

I mean...

His hypothetical tracker.

See, in the hypothetical situation that Grayson sneaks off, he has a hypothetical tracker in his clothes, which would hypothetically make it so I can find him.

I checked the hypothetical tracker. It hypothetically said he was at...

Avery's hotel.

Ooo.

Also in a hypothetical situation, I leave hypothetical cameras wherever I go.

I opened the hypothetical camera collection, browsing through them until I found where Grayson was.

"I don't know how you did this." Grayson sounded dangerous. "I don't know what hold you had over my grandfather, or what kind of con you're running here."

Of course he's doing that. I knew he was going to be an asshole as soon as the will was read.

"I'm not-" Avery protested.

"I'm talking right now, Ms. Grambs." Ok, don't yell at me, but if someone was seeing this without the audio, this could pass as them flirting.

Look, Grayson's leaning towards Avery, he has his hand on the door, and Avery looks like Grayson's the only person who exists.

Just saying.

Grayson continued talking. "I haven't a clue how you pulled this off, but I will find out. I see you now. I know what you are and what you're capable of, and there is nothing I wouldn't do to protect my family. Whatever game you're playing here, no matter how long this con - I will find the truth, and God help you when I do.

Damn. He didn't hold back at all. Oof.

It was seven am. I usually would still be sleeping, except I never actually went to sleep. That's fine.

There was a knock on my door. Did one of my siblings finally notice I hadn't appeared since the will reading? It had been over a day since I last saw any of them.

I looked through the peephole. Oh, it was all of them.

I opened the door.

"Yes, dear brothers of mine?" I asked with a grand flourish.

"We need to talk to you." Grayson said. He walked in, Jameson and Nash following. Xander waited outside.

"Oh sure, just go ahead and invite yourselves in." I said dryly. "Except you Xander. You have my permission to come in."

Xander, the obviously superior one, smiled, then walked in.

Grayson, Jameson, and Nash were already seated.

I sat down on my chair, Xander following.

"What is it?" I asked.

A multitude of answers came flying towards me.

"I would like an explanation for why you inherited so much more." (Gee I wonder who this is.)

"Why'd you get half of the properties in Europe?"
