Chapter 26: Sports Festival

**Timeskip (next morning)**

Ayanokouji took a deep breath as he inhaled the cool morning air. The cool air filled his lungs and his eyes rested upon the rising sun. It was a beautiful sunrise and the start of a new day. Ayanokouji was taking a light jog to start his day and after stopping at a nearby vending machine to get some water, he heard someone calling his name.

"Ayanokouji-kun!" called out Kinoshita.

Ayanokouji turned around and saw her jogging up to him. Kinoshita is wearing black running shorts along with her white school-issued gym shirt. Her hair tied in a short athletic ponytail and Ayanokouji could see the sweat glistening on her pale skin as it ran down her neck and towards her upper body. He could see some sweat stains by her armpit areas and other various areas Luckily Kinoshita's shirt is double-fabric otherwise the shirt would've been see-through and Ayanokouji would've seen more than Kinoshita's shirt.

"Good morning, Kinoshita. Out for another run again?" said Ayanokouji.

"Yeah! Wanna come with me?" asked Kinoshita, looking at him expectantly.

"Sure."

"Yay! Are you ready?"

Kinoshita's eyes sparkled in excitement and anticipation as Ayanokouji gazed at her. He could tell that she really enjoy running and was ready to go. As he gazed at Kinoshita, he could the passion that she had and how she looked quite cute with a determined and happy look on her face. Ayanokouji wished that he had that passion and determination, but he knew that he had lost it years ago.

"Yeah. I guess I'll follow you." said Ayanokouji, standing up and screwing the lid of his water bottle tightly.

"All right! Try and keep up!" said Kinoshita, excitedly.

With that, Kinoshita began jogging and Ayanokouji followed closely behind her. As the duo jogged down the main road, Ayanokouji could see how different it is. It usually had lots of students walking down this road, heading towards the Keyaki Mall, student dorms, or the school, but since it's early in the morning, there's no one walking. Ayanokouji enjoyed the peaceful silence of the early morning as the only sounds were Kinoshita's and his own panting along with the chirping of birds from the nearby trees.

After about 10 minutes of jogging, Kinoshita was slowing down and allowing Ayanokouji to catch up to her.

"Hey! We're about to hit the Keyaki Mall. There's a little detour I wanna take before we could arrive there when it open. You fine with it?" asked Kinoshita.

"Sure. Hopefully, we're taking a break when we get there." said Ayanokouji.

"Oh, c'mon! We're just getting started and you don't look that tired!"

"I am very tired. I'm just good at hiding it."

"Could've fooled me!"

Kinoshita led Ayanokouji down a path off the main road and he could see the trees along the path, providing the perfect amount of shade as the dim sunlight fell upon the duo as they jogged down the path. Ayanokouji has never been down this path and it wasn't the same path that he took with her during their last time running together. He was a little curious on where Kinoshita is taking him and after a few more minutes of jogging, the trees parted ways and the duo entered into a clearing.

The clearing was only a field, but there was an abundance of sunflowers all lined in a neat row and facing towards the sun. Ayanokouji could see the bright sun rise as he entered the field and the blinding light caused him to raise an arm to shield his eyes. After a few more moments of walking forward and adjusting his eyes, Ayanokouji can fully see the beauty of the spot that Kinoshita took him to.
