Chapter 3

Autumn above

After crying for a few hours Autumn and I finished an entire bottle of Jack Daniels. We sat together on the couch in each other arms. I knew I could always trust her to be there for me. We have been friends since elementary school.

"Let's go to a club tonight", she said as she sat up and faced me.

"You're sure that's what I need right now?", I asked knowing myself I didn't want to make any emotional decisions.

"We both need it because you got my ass ready to shoot up your apartment", she said sadness in her eyes. "How could Aaron do that to you Naomi after all you've done for him?"

"I don't know why he did what he did", I said to her.

I really did do a lot for him. Aaron and I met in college and I thought we would have a happily ever after. I thought kids were in our near future and that he would cherish me for the rest of my life. I graduated with my degree in Biology and soon after attended physical therapy school. Blessed I was able to find a job right after I became very successful bringing in the most money to provide for us.

Aaron changed after he lost his job working as a personal trainer and for what reason I still do not know to this day. It hit him hard and he began to stay out late and became careless with the way he spoke to me. Almost verbally abusive. That apartment was paid for out of my hard earned money as well as damn near every piece of furniture in it. I didn't want any of it anymore it was contaminated by adultery and lies. My hope died in that room when I saw him with Kelly. Doing things to her body I can't remember the last time I even experienced. I've spent so many nights craving his touch, wishing we could spark that fire again only to be disappointed.

"Let's do it", I said getting up and going over to my suitcase. I felt drunk already as I rummaged through my suitcase looking for a fitted dress.

I settled on a red body con dress and grab a bra and thong. Heading to the bathroom Autumn left me a towel and shower puff to bathe with. Out of nowhere I heard Kevin Gates "Perfect Imperfection" blast through her speakers. I laughed out loud cause she knew that was my song. I turned the shower on and began to rap my favorite part of the song while the hot water cascaded down my body.

I sang out loud as I heard Autumn come inside the bathroom.

"Im a perfect imperfection, my craft has been perfected and I just need affection, emotionally I'm a introvert but it come off as aggression", we rapped together as we busted out laughing.

I can always count on her to make me laugh when I need it the most. I finished showering and jumped out while Autumn stood in her panties and bra curling her hair. I walked past her and to the bedroom and saw my outfit as well as her pair of black Louboutins next to it.

"Noooo you letting me wear the red bottoms", I said excitedly.

I could afford name brands but decided against it because what if I need all the money I got racked up one day for some odd ass reason?

"Yes girl you need this night out and I want to make sure you are looking on point", she said plugging in the flat iron for me.

I smiled and began to lotion up in a fruity Victoria secrets lotion and slipped on my bra and thong. I walked inside the bathroom and began to touch up my hair. My hair was pretty long for a black woman and past my shoulders at 16 inches long. After finishing my hair I unplugged the flat iron and walked out to Autumn wearing this bright ass pink dress that hugged all her curves.

"You're gonna cause an accident when you step outside, looking like a bottle of pepto bismol", I said laughing while she flicked me off.

"Fuck you, you're gonna be standing out in that red dress too", she said pointing to my dress laid out on the bed.
