Chapter 11
"Trouble you."
The girl spoke softly, dragging her backpack to the candy stand and then sitting down at the small table. She had a high ponytail, a green bow ribbon tied under her white doll collar, and a navy blue wool vest on the outside .
Chu Yuening took a special look at the school badge on the girl's school uniform. "Chongzheng Middle School? Do you go to school there?"
Su Yinyin nodded absentmindedly.
Chu Yuening had not expected to meet Chu Yi's schoolmate. She took out a red plastic bag from under the stall and turned around to put it on the table. There was a stack of sticky yellow talisman paper, a rough and frizzy brush, and cinnabar dyed red on the edge of the small medicine bottle cap. She looked up.
"What kind of charm do you want to buy?"
Su Yinyin became even more nervous as she looked at the shoddy scene.
Did she accidentally enter the illegal factory of Mee Fu Paper?
"Will the talisman drawn like this be useful?"
In the past, when I went to Wong Tai Sin Temple with my grandfather, the talisman paper and brushes used by the abbot seemed to be much higher quality.
Chu Yuening coughed lightly and touched her nose, feeling inexplicably guilty. "The appearance is indeed... not so good, but the effectiveness of the talisman is definitely no problem."
"Oh." Although Su Yinyin was skeptical, she did not get up and leave. Thinking of Chu Yuening's frighteningly accurate fortune-telling just now, she asked again, "Can I have my fortune told before I buy the talisman?"
Chu Yuening had already torn off a yellow talisman and placed it on the table. She paused for a moment, then opened the medicine bottle and put the cinnabar into the lid. "Buy the talisman. You can't have your fortune told today."
"Why?" Su Yinyin was puzzled.
Chu Yuening shook her head and did not answer the question.
"I know. You must have already calculated one today, and your energy is exhausted so you can't calculate anymore." Su Yinyin looked nervous, and then she slowly explained the reason why she wanted to buy the talisman.
"Recently, when I go home at night, I always feel like someone is following me, but my good friend says I am paranoid. Do you know about the female corpse found in Cheung Sha Wan a few days ago?"
Su Yinyin didn't care whether Chu Yuening answered or not, she just quietly expressed her troubles, as if she had found someone to confide in. She only had her grandparents at home, and she didn't want her family to worry, so she shouldered the pressure alone.
"The person who died was my good friend. We grew up together and went to the same kindergarten and primary school. I have no brothers or sisters, and she was like my spiritual pillar. We supported each other and agreed to apply to the same university, but she passed away suddenly."
"I dream about her every night, and she keeps crying to me." Su Yinyin bit her lower lip tightly, tears welling up in her eyes. "She must want to remind me of something, so she keeps coming into my dreams."
"I'm so scared. I always feel like someone wants to hurt me like they did to Ah Xiang. I can't sleep well and I'm stressed. It's affecting my life. Master, do you think a calming talisman would be more effective in this situation?"
After listening to this, Chu Yuening dipped the hairy pen tip into the cinnabar liquid and said, "The calming charm won't work. Use the peace charm. It's suitable for you to keep you safe when going out."
