Tarini was enjoying a quiet afternoon alone at home, the sun casting warm rays through the windows as she curled up with a book on the couch. The familiar sounds of the neighborhood outside provided a comforting backdrop to her solitude.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, interrupting her peaceful moment. Surprised, Tarini set her book aside and went to answer the door. Peering through the peephole, she saw a man standing outside, dressed in casual attire.
"Hello?" Tarini called out cautiously, not recognizing him.
The man smiled politely. "Good afternoon, ma'am. I'm here to check your plumbing fittings. The landlord sent me over."
Tarini hesitated, her brow furrowing slightly. She hadn't been informed about any maintenance scheduled for that day. "Um, are you sure? I wasn't expecting anyone."
The man nodded reassuringly. "Yes, ma'am. The landlord mentioned it's urgent. May I come in?"
Tarini's instincts tingled with unease, but she reluctantly opened the door a crack, keeping the chain lock in place. "I... I guess so. Let me just call the landlord to confirm."
Before she could reach for her phone, the man suddenly pushed against the door with surprising force, breaking the chain lock and barging into her home. Shocked and frightened, Tarini stumbled back, her heart racing as the man moved swiftly towards her.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" Tarini cried out, panic rising in her voice.
But it was too late. Before she could react, the man grabbed her roughly and covered her mouth with one hand, preventing her from screaming. In moments, he had subdued her, dragging her towards the door.
Terrified and struggling against his grip, Tarini fought to free herself, but the man's strength was overwhelming. As he forced her out of the house, Tarini's mind raced with fear and confusion, desperate for a way to escape from this sudden and terrifying intrusion into her peaceful day at home.
