Tarini's heart pounded as she drove home to the family castle, her mind racing with thoughts of Yuvraj and the impending conversation with her father. She knew she had to be honest with him, despite the fear of his reaction.
Entering the grand hall, Tarini found her father in deep discussion with family elders. Taking a deep breath, she approached him with resolve.
"Father, I need to speak with you," Tarini began, her voice steady but filled with apprehension.
Her father turned to her with a raised eyebrow, indicating she should continue.
"I... I can't go through with this marriage proposal," Tarini continued, her words careful yet resolute. "There's someone else."
Her father's expression hardened, but he remained composed. "Who is this someone else, Tarini? Is this some fleeting fancy?"
"No, Father," Tarini replied, her voice trembling slightly. "His name is Yuvraj. He's Rohan's friend."
Her father's demeanor shifted, his eyes narrowing with disapproval. "Rohan's friend? That boy is not suitable for you, Tarini. We have made arrangements for your future, arrangements that will benefit our family's standing."
Tears welled up in Tarini's eyes as she pleaded, "But Father, I love him. I can't imagine my life without him."
Her father's voice softened slightly, tinged with disappointment. "Love is not enough, Tarini. You are my daughter, and I want what is best for you. This marriage will secure your future."
Tarini felt a wave of frustration and helplessness wash over her. "But what about my happiness, Father? Doesn't that matter?"
He sighed heavily, his resolve firm. "You will come to understand my decision, Tarini. This is for your own good."
