it was half past ten when the parker twins ditched their bikes by the back gate of st harbors high. the two teenagers had spent their morning surfing and had completely lost track of time. after climbing through the fence hole they had discovered two years earlier the duo ran through the hallways trying to find their classroom. tatumn's hair was falling out her messy bun and her wet swimmers stuck to her floral dress. sand trailed the floor creating evidence of their antics.

"mom's going to be pissed when she finds out we're late again" sebastain stated as they shoved their bags into their lockers and grabbed their books for second period.

"please, you know what mom's like. it'll be a slap on the wrist" they slowed their pace down to a walk "just because she has to discipline us"

sebastian gave his sister a worried look "i sure hope you're right"

the twins entered room 203, their english class. to say that it was their least favourite class was an understatement. "look who decided to show up. just because you won some surf comp you two think you can arrive whenever you want, do you?" mrs moroea said ,as tatumn took her seat in the middle row next to aurora. she sent the girl an innocent smile as she started to copy the down the notes from the board. sebastain took his seat in the back corner with knox, starting to ignore their teacher.

"oh, look who's mastered the art of stating the obvious" tatumn muttered to aurora as mrs moroea started to give her usual speil. she ignored her teachers glare as she kept writing. "you know winning surf comps isn't just about showing up. it's about hard work and dedication" she shot back to her teacher with a teasing smirk "something you should try sometime"

mrs moroea narrowed her eyes at tatumn's retort. "dedication does not mean flaunting tardiness young lady. it means being responsible and respecting schedules"

tatumn scoffed, dropping her pen and crossing her arms across her chest. "respecting class schedules? the only thing i need to know how to do is surf. school doesn't matter to me"

"surfing is not going to get you where you want to in life tatumn. perhaps if you spent more time on your studies as you do in the sun, you'd amount to something more than a beach bum"

"well at least i've got something i'm good at. you're a middle aged women teaching at a highschool, with teenagers who couldn't care less. nothing says failure more than that" maybe she'd taken it a bit far with her comment, but she'd had enough of always being picked on by her teacher.

aurora raised her hand to have an imput, she like sebastian and knox knew that the argument was going to get out of hand really qucikly. especially when their teacher had had enough. "this doesn't involve you aurora. it is clear that tatumn prefers riding waves then riding the waves of knowledge"

"what shitty book did you get that quote from?" the blonde asked, the class errupting into giggles and whispers.

"that language is not permitted in this class" mrs moroea stated, her face contorting to disgust.

tatumn leant forward, her hands resting under her chin. "oh, well maybe you should add that to your list of class rules" she unclasped her hands and started listing on her fingers "rule number one, fun is not permitted in this class. rule number two, talking is not permitted in this class. rule number three, having your own opinion is not permitted-"

"that is enough! i will not let you sit here and disrespect me or my classroom" her face fuled with anger, it was clear she was now in her red zone. "you're wasting your potential tatumn, maybe if you took your education seriously you wouldn't be such a dissapointment"
