"Rereading the same chapter won't give you a different ending."
Vance Hopper / First Person
Gwen and I sat on the chairs as we waited for Finneg to wake up, "My boyfriend's coming here, he's getting us burgers," I inform her, smiling slightly in hopes to lift her mood.
Gwen turned to me with a faded smile, "Yeah, okay," she says quietly, nodding her head. "Also thanks for offering to drive me to my lessons if I manage to get in."
"You're my sister now," I assure her, gently patting her shoulder. Her eyes softened and her smile seemed more genuine before she turned to Finney, whose head was wrapped with bandages.
I stood up almost immediately as the door opened and Bruce walked into the room, "I do hope he wakes up soon," he comments, nodding at the boy he laid against the hospital bed. "Hi, you must be Gwen," he says to the girl as he sits down one seat away from her.
"Hi, and you must be Bruce?" she says, smiling at him as I sat in my previous seat in between them. "I've seen you come by the house a lot when we were still being fostered."
"Yeah, we come over to the Hopper house a lot for sleepovers mainly because it's huge and has its own arcade room," he says, I rolled my eyes after realizing my boyfriend's probably my boyfriend so he can come over more for the games.
"There's an arcade?" asks Gwen excitedly, eyes widening as she leaned on the edge of her seat, interested more and more as she talked to Bruce. "I definitely have to check it out."
"Here," Bruce says, handing me a burger and handing Gwen a burger as well. "Eat, I have like, four more." He laughs, gesturing to the paper bag on his lap.
"Y'know, Gwen, Bruce has a swimming pool and a gaming room in his house," I say, glancing at the boy next to me. "You could definitely come over there whenever because, you know, I have a spare key."
"Really?!" Gwen exclaims, a wide grin on her lips. Bruce stared at me offendedly before looking at the younger girl, smiling and nodding. "That would be nice."
"There's also a studio with a stuff for taekwondo since his sister used to do that, before she quit and started painting more," I explain as he gasps and claps his hand onto my mouth, keeping me from saying any more.
"Yeah, you can come by and I can introduce you to my sister and you can explore the house on your own without somebody spoiling it all," he says, directing the last statement to me as my laughs were muffled.
"You two seem like a great couple-" Gwen starts, that was until there was groaning from the other side and we spun our heads around. "Finney!" She immediately stood up and ran to her brother. "I would hit you but you're already hurt."
I watched as I sat on the seat, watching the two siblings bicker with Finney barely catching on on the events. "What happened?" he managed to utter out, going to rub his head before Gwen slapped it away.
I stood up and walked towards the bed, leaving Bruce and letting his hand fall back onto his lap after I let go. "You slipped and split your head on the tub, there's bandages around your head to keep the stitches from slipping off and you bleeding any more," I explain to him, he nods although I don't he caught on a few words as he kept trying to itch his head.
"Don't do that, Finney." Gwen grabbed his wrist and sat down on the seat that Bruce placed behind her. "You might bleed again."
"Where's mom?"
Gwen hesitated and I didn't know whether he meant mom or his old mom, "Which, Finney, specify." She frowns, shaking her head. "If you mean mom-mom, she's gone, and if you mean Mrs. Hopper-mom, she went home with Bailey."
