Shadows of Midnight

Chapter 6

The girls stood frozen in their places. Sara knew immediately that it was the killer, Rob's killer. How did he end up here? How did he get in? The girls hadn't heard anything like someone breaking the glass. But Sjans was big. Was it possible not to hear? The girls held each other tightly and were silent. Eliza looked around quickly and that was when she saw something in the room. A big enough vent and the girls could crawl into it. It was just like in Five Nights at Freddy's where the player had to crawl into the ventilation. Think Security Breach.

"Come out from wherever you are," the killer said in a dark chanting tone. Then the banging got louder and went on and on. Eliza released her friends and quickly went to the toolbox. She took a screwdriver and went to the vent and quickly turned it however she could. After it was open, set it aside and gave a quick sign with her hand to her friends to come to her. Sara and Kiara walked over to her and Eliza helped them crawl into the vent. Sara went first and then Kiara. The girls didn't realize they had forgotten their plushies. After Sara and Kiara got a little further, Eliza crawled in as well but then as she wanted to crawl further, she let out a loud painful scream. Never in her life had she felt such pain! Then she was dragged out of the vent. Eliza groaned in pain and began to cry as well. She didn't know what to do. 

When she was completely out of ventilation, she was then thrown too hard on the floor. Again Eliza let out screams of pain. Her one foot and some of her leg hurt tremendously. She groaned in pain and after she finally looked to see what was wrong, she saw that she was being stabbed with a knife! She was in shock. She thought she would never be stabbed in her life, but fate had other plans.

She looked angrily at the killer as she cried in pain. "What did you do to Rob!" she screamed.

The killer chuckled and showed a creepy smirk. "Ah, Rob! What a sweet boy when I talked to him. He was naive though and followed me like a puppy. I keep hearing his screams of pain and begging me to stop."

Eliza wanted to fight the killer. How dare he! How dare he say such a thing as if this was okay! She wanted to fight him and even kill him too for what he did. She wanted revenge. But if she did, then she would go to jail and she didn't want that.

"How dare you say such a thing! You are a monster!" exclaimed Eliza at the killer.

The killer let out a fake gasp and put his hand on his chest where his heart was. "How dare you call me a monster." He smirked. "Then I will now end your life and your friends." He moved closer and Eliza crawled backward. But she could go no further, and she became more frightened as she made contact with the door. Was this the end of her life? Was this the end of her story? She closed her eyes and looked away, prepared to feel final pain, but nothing came. Why did nothing come? Noises could be heard, though. Fighting sounds and groans too. Eliza carefully and fearfully opened her eyes. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She saw a full black bear with beautiful blue eyes. He was fighting the killer. He had a small cut on his cheek and it was bleeding, probably from the killer. It was Fred! Eliza's beloved teddy bear was furry and to life!

That was when a cat and a rabbit helped the bear. That had to be Pepper and Owen! Pepper was an orange tomcat and then there was Owen, a brown rabbit. Since the three male furries were a stronger group, they had been able to quickly knock the killer unconscious. After this was done, the bear looked at Eliza, who looked scared, with a gentle glance. The bear moved toward her and Eliza did not move. She immediately felt an aura from Fred that he could be trusted and also that she was protected. Fred knelt in front of Eliza and put his paw on her good knee. "Everything is okay now, Eliza. You and your friends are safe."

Eliza let out a small grateful smile and nodded at him. Owen and Pepper observed them. Fred then showed a handsome smile and Eliza blushed. Wait, it was too early to be in love. Eliza then remembered Sara and Kiara and her eyes went wide. "Sara! Kiara!" She wanted to get up but she had forgotten that her foot and leg hurt very much that she made a sound from her mouth. Fred stopped her and put both his paws on her shoulders. "Calm down! I'll watch your foot," he looked at Pepper and Owen," Pepper, Owen, can you look for the girls and call the police and ambulance? I'll keep an eye on the killer."

Owen and Pepper nodded. Fred gently lifted Eliza in bridal style and walked to a chair. Since the passage was clear, Pepper and Owen left. Fred gently laid Eliza down on the chair and looked at her foot. He didn't touch it either so as not to hurt her. He wasn't a doctor. "You need to go to the hospital."

Eliza was afraid the whole time to start a conversation. Yes, Fred could be trusted and she felt protected by him, but how did he come alive?

"How ... How did you come alive?" asked Eliza in a shy tone.

Fred saw how shy she looked and smiled warmly. That was when he chuckled. "You once wished I came to life. The same went for Sara and Kiara."

Eliza went through her memories and she did indeed wish Fred would come to life but that was years later. During her school days. She looked puzzled and looked away. Fred laughed a little. "It's okay, Eliza. At least your wish is out, right?" Then he grabbed her hand.

Eliza couldn't believe it. Fred was super soft! So soft she wanted to hug him, but she didn't want to be seen as a weird girl. She smiled at him. She frowned as she forgot that Fred also had a wound on his cheek. She used her hands and cupped his face. Fred looked surprised, but he appeared to like what Eliza was doing now. He closed his blue eyes and let Eliza do her thing. Eliza delicately ran her fingers through Fred's fur with one hand while the other kept cupping his face. Eliza was gentle with the wound on his cheek. Fred let out a sigh of bliss. It felt good to him. The girl noticed that he found it blissful so she continued. But when she heard footsteps, also running, Eliza immediately released Fred and he quickly opened his eyes. Together they looked at the open door and there appeared Eliza's friends with Owen and Pepper.

"Eliza!" cried Kiara happily calling her name as she entered with Sara.

The girls gave each other a good hug and cried. That had been a scary and a scary moment. Sara even said how worried she was about Eliza. Kiara was worried, too. When they had heard her screams, they had thought their good friend was dead.

But now everything was over.
