Shadows of Midnight

Chapter 7

The killer was finally arrested when the police arrived. The ambulance also arrived where they had treated Eliza and taken her to hospital. Everyone went along to get a checkup, including Fred, Owen, and Pepper. Rob's body was also found and Kiara handed over the USB stick to the police since there was evidence in it. The police listened to the stories of the girls and furries. Eliza's father was contacted and said he was on his way immediately. He didn't care, his daughter always comes first.

Now Eliza was resting in the hospital. The doctors had treated the wound well and there were bandages around it. Eliza was also given something to relieve the pain. She had her eyes closed and that was when they heard a knock on the door of the room where Eliza was lying. She opened her eyes and looked at the visitor. It was Fred and surprisingly, he was wearing pants. He was even holding flowers, too!

"What a surprise," Eliza said with a blush on her cheeks and a smile.

"Yes," Fred said and walked over to Eliza's table next to her bed and put the flowers in the empty vase. He grabbed a stool chair and sat next to Eliza. "How do you feel?" He took her hand in his paw.

"Good. I can't wait to get out of here. I'd like to spend time with my loved ones. What's it like to be alive?"

Fred then explained to Eliza that it was weird for him at first, but it felt good. He was alive and allowed to experience things like a true furry, even though he wasn't human since he was a bear. But he did carry the DNA of a human, even though he was a stuffed bear at first. He was a full furry with human DNA inside. When a human and a furry have a child together, the child is a furry, a human, or very special, a hybrid.

Fred also lived with Eliza and her father. Eliza's father also knew the truth about Fred and he fainted when he saw the bear. He let Fred live with them since he knew Fred would protect his daughter.

Eliza could hear his voice all day long. He was just ... her ideal partner, but only if he wanted to be. But she had questions like was she going too fast? Did he want to be with her for the rest of their lives like soulmates? Eliza was not someone who wanted to ruin anyone's life. Should Fred have another partner she would accept and respect it. She did want to be friends with Fred then. She couldn't wait to show Fred what life was like going to school, going to work, starting a family, and whatnot.

She frowned and Fred noticed. He looked concerned. "Are you alright?"

Eliza decided to be honest and take her chances. "No. I've been thinking about it for a long time and it's time I told you."

Fred looked curious and listened. What was cute was that he tilted his head. Eliza then blushed even harder. Fred noticed and grinned. He now knew what Eliza wanted to tell him. He was in love with Eliza, too, even though it had only been almost a week since Fred had been alive. He stood up leaning toward her. Finally, his mouth was on Eliza's, it was a kiss. The kiss was soon full of passion. Eliza's hands cupped Fred's face while Fred's paw also touched Eliza's face. An embrace. They couldn't stop kissing, but they had to breathe. They panted as their mouths parted. Fred pressed his forehead against Eliza's and they gazed deeply into each other's eyes.

"You're in love with me?" panted Eliza a little from the kiss.

"Yes. And you with me. Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

Eliza smiled wider and felt her heart leap. Her hero was finally asking for her love and she agreed. She pushed him down and hugged him. Fred hugged her back. His bear tail wagged a little. They had each other and were in love.
