Shadows of Midnight

Chapter 3

After school was done for the vacation, the girls agreed to meet at Eliza's residence. Her plan went like this:

Eliza's father had to go on a business trip and so left his daughter alone. Fortunately, he also always left Eliza the keys to Sjans store, including the gate key. Kiara, who was good about cameras and computers, will see the footage and type in the date on the night when Rob disappeared. The girls will also bring items such as to protect themselves and still special cards Eliza's father had on his desk table. The cards served to get inside highly protective rooms and items. The security room, where the cameras were, sat there.

Eliza was currently at home and was in her pajamas. She always did that when she came home from her day like school or work. She choked up at her plan. Kiara and Sarah were hiding so as not to be seen by Eliza's father. Eliza watched her father get ready for his departure to the airport. After he put on his special coat, he looked at Eliza and smiled sadly. "I'll miss you, honey."

Eliza will miss her father, too. That's why she let out a soft smile. "I'll miss you too, dad."

They hugged each other and Eliza's father left a small kiss on her forehead. The girl learned to cope that her father was often gone, even if it still hurt a little inside.

"Safe trip, dad," Eliza said watching her father leave to go outside. She closed the door but didn't lock it. She quickly went to a window that showed her father's car. He started his car and drove off.

After the car disappeared, Eliza quickly went to her bedroom and took off her pajamas. She did it quickly. She didn't want to keep her friends waiting too long. When she was done, she put on slippers and went outside. She went to where Kiara and Sara were waiting. "Come along, girls."

Kiara and Sara followed Eliza. After they were inside, Eliza closed and locked the door. The girls gathered in the living room and sat on the couch. Eliza then explained everything. She hadn't told them her plan because they were still at school and she didn't want to get caught. Sara and Kiara listened intently and carefully. Their ears and brains picked up every info. Kiara will arrange the cameras and computers in the security room. Sara had good eyes and could quickly notice something without the other girls knowing. For example, seeing a figure through the cameras. Eliza also went to get special cards and keys and put them down on the table.

Kiara then noticed something was missing so that is why she quickly said something. "Wait a minute. Do you maybe have a USB stick? If we can find something, we can save it."

Eliza nodded and went to her room and went to her little cabinet where she kept things. There was a box there. She opened it and took out a USB flash drive. After everything was back neatly in the box, she went back to the living room and handed the USB drive to Kiara, who took it and put it in her pocket.

"When do we leave?" asked Sara to Eliza.

"When it's dark," she replied.

The girls then began to chat a bit with each other. Eliza's father knew Sara and Kiara well and also trusted them to look after his daughter. Sara and Kiara lied to their parents that they were going to sleep over at Eliza's house and they believed in it. They did feel guilty about having to hide something from them, but they didn't want to be stopped. Even Eliza's father believed that Sara and Kiara were going to spend time with Eliza.
