Chapter 30

We see Simon driving his car, and in the passenger seat we see little Lyla wearing a floral dress and clutching her favorite plush toy in her lap. She looks nervous, and while not as noticeable Simon also looks a little nervous, "Alright Little one! Car is all gassed up, It's just us today! Did you make up your mind about where you want to go?"

Lyla looks out the window nervously, "Um... I don't know..."

He continues in an attempt to encourage her, "Don't be shy, it's okay! Is there anywhere you'd like to go?"

Lyla tilts her head, "Like what kind of places can we go?"

Simon replies, "Well, we could see a movie?"

Lyla nods slowly and cautiously, "Umm.. maybe.."

Using his classic technique with Nikki, he says, "... or we can get some ice cream?"

Lyla stays quiet, contemplating if ice cream even sounds appealing anymore.

While keeping his eyes on the road, Simon adds, "Oh right, that probably doesn't sound very good. Sorry cutie, lets see... well maybe we do a movie then?"

She considers the last time she was in a theater and remembers how loud and bright it was, and how scary that can feel. Trying to be polite to her Mommy's boyfriend, she softly responds, "Umm.. we can.."

Simon replies, "That isn't exactly the response I was hoping for. It's okay to tell me no, I wont be mad. I want to make sure we do something YOU like, okay? Today is about us having a good time."

Lyla responds with a small smile on her face.

 Simon continues, "You know, I saw your animal books by your bed, what if we went to a petting zoo?"

With her interest finally peaked, Lyla asks, "What kind of animals do they have to pet?"

Simon takes notice of her interest, he says "Let's see, there would probably be sheep and goats, and last time I checked I think they might have a horse there. OH! And we can even feed chickens if you want!"

Lyla's smile stretches into a grin, "I would like to pet a goat, please."

Simon looks at Lyla briefly, "Then it's settled! Now, before we get on the freeway, how's your diaper, Lyla? Need a change?"

The question surprises Lyla, why would she need to check or manage that? She presses a hand on the front of her diaper and feels the warm squishy pressure. Is that a lot of squish? Or a normal amount? She tries another squish a little lower, but it still proves inconclusive. She responds, "I think it's okay..."

Trusting Lyla to handle that task, he makes his way onto the freeway, "And you just let me know if you need a bottle or sippy, okay princess they are in the backseat?"

Lyla squeezes her plush Axolotl in her lap, "Thank you, Mr. Simon, I will."

Simon replies playfully, "You are such a polite good girl, and you're very welcome. Just sit back and relax, we'll pet some Goats soon."

As Lyla settles into her seat, she looks out the window and her mind wanders.

Back at the Apartment, both Nikki and Justine are sitting on the couch watching a Movie. Justine looks to be having a completely pleasant time, Nikki however looks deflated.

Nikki sinks further into the couch dramatically while groaning, "I'm boreeeeeeddddd....."

Justine finally takes notice of Nikki's posture, she sees her sprawled out with a disinterested expression, "I'm sorry Nikki, but we agreed to have a day inside while your daddy and Lyla spend time together outside. You agreed to it with us, remember?"
