The next day, as usual, Khushi was sleeping on Arnav. He carefully shifted her to sleep properly and walked toward the washroom to get ready. When he came out, she was still asleep.
He walked near her and gently shook her, saying, "Khushi, wake up. You’ll be late for college."
Khushi mumbled in her sleep, "Mumma, go away. I wanna sleep some more; it’s not even late yet," and turned over to sleep again.
Arnav, tired of trying to wake her, decided to play a prank. He suddenly screamed, "Khushiiiiiiiiii, there’s a cockroach beside youuuu! Get up fast or else it’ll be on youuuu!"
Khushi shot up instantly and jumped onto Arnav, who was standing beside the bed. "Where, Arnav? Where’s the cockroach? God, why is it here so early in the morning?"
She was so busy ranting that she didn’t realize she had jumped on him. Arnav stood there in shock.
"Arnav, say something! Where is it?" She suddenly realized their position.
Looking into each other's eyes, they got stuck in the moment, oblivious to the passing time. Suddenly, they heard Sunidhi screaming for them, snapping them out of their trance.
Khushi, embarrassed, quickly got down and excused herself to the washroom. Arnav yelled back to his mother that they were coming.
After some time, Arnav noticed it had been half an hour and he hadn’t heard water running. He shouted her name, "Khushi, come fast!"
Khushi, who had been dozing off with her back against the wall, jerked awake. She hurriedly brushed her teeth, took a shower, and got ready.
Arnav came out of the room and wished his mom good morning. She smiled and asked, "Good morning! Where’s Khushi? And why are you late today?"
"I was late because of her. It took almost half an hour to wake her," he replied, sitting down.
"She’s just like a child," his mother said with a smile.
"I feel like I married a child," Arnav said while buttering his bread. They were chatting when Khushi entered, announcing, "I’m so hungry."
She looked at the dishes and her face lit up. "Wow, Ma! You made my favorite food!"
Sunidhi smiled and replied, "Yes, I asked your mother about your favorite dishes. She told me everything, even that you don’t like spicy food and plain milk."
Khushi hugged her and said, "Thank you, Ma! You’re the best." Arnav smiled, watching their bonding. They had breakfast filled with laughter and fun, thanks to Khushi.
As Khushi and Arnav were about to leave for college, Sunidhi handed them a lunchbox. "I made your favorite for lunch. I don’t like when someone doesn’t finish their tiffin, so remember to finish it," she warned, looking at Khushi.
Khushi pouted, realizing her mother must have told her mother-in-law about her habit of not finishing her lunch. She nodded, kissed Sunidhi’s cheeks, and they left.
In the car, Khushi said, "Isn’t it weird? I’m going to college with my professor. The good thing is I’ll never be late for class."
Arnav smiled. "There should be at least some perks of marrying your professor, right?"
She smiled back. As they neared the college, Khushi suddenly told him to stop. Arnav, alarmed, quickly braked. "What happened, Khushi? Is everything alright?"
Khushi sheepishly smiled and scratched her head. "I just realized you can’t drop me inside the campus. People might see us. So drop me here; I’ll walk from here. It’s not far."
