I sit on my bed, thinking about where Mom could be, and why the police haven't found her yet. Is she dead or just-?
My thoughts are interrupted by the door creaking open.
"Oi Hope." I look over at the door to see Victor leaning against the wall. I frown.
"What is it?" I reply.
"Get downstairs. Dad's calling for you. And when will you ever stop sulking about your dumb mom? She's probably dead by now. I don't see the point of it. Plus, it makes you look even uglier than you already are anyway."
That, that, that stupid idiot. Who does he think he is to call my mother dumb? I slide off my bed, barge past him and head downstairs just to find William sitting on the sofa, watching TV.
"Oh, Holly. You're here," he said, noticing my prescence but not turning to even look at me.
"My name's Hope, not Holly," I replied.
"Holly, Hope, Harper. Same thing. Just make dinner."
"I'm only eleven. Why can't Victor or Ellis do it?"
"Because you're the lady in the house. And its one of the only things you women are good at. It's a woman's entire reason to live: to cook, clean, and all that."
I ignored his sexist claims, and walked towards the kitchen. I stop and turn to ask, "What should I make?"
He replied lazily, "I dunno. Do whatever. Ask the boys."
I don't wanna go and ask my brothers. So I start cooking the first thing that comes to mind, something that Mom taught me to cook, 'Shephered's Pie'.
After around an hour, I bring the food to the boys sitting around the table.. "Thanks, Hope," Ellis said up me, he's the only nice one in this house to be honest. He actually comforts when I think about Mom.
"It's.. Okay. You could've done better," Victor interrupted. I have to try so hard to keep my cool. I take some deep breaths before sitting down at the table next to Ellis.
"And what do you think you're doing?" William question me, he looked very annoyed.
I replied, "Sitting down at the table to eat?"
"And who said you could eat with us?"
Ellis spoke up to attempt to stand up for me, "Dad-."
"Shut up Ellis. This isn't any of your business. Stay out of it," William protested.
Minutes later, an entire argument had started between William and Ellis. Victor didn't show any concern at all and was just scrolling through Instagram, looking at girls' photos, saving most of them.
I had had enough. "Can you guys please just stop?!" I raise my voice before I can realize what I've done. I cover my mouth. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to say that-!"
I've barely even finished my apology, before I see William barge past Ellis, getting right up in my face.
"So you think you can just raise your voice at me? Who do you think you are to yell at me? I'm in charge, I make the rules in this house! I pay the bills! Not you!"
In a fit of rage, William picks me up by the the rim of my shirt, and hurls me across the room, scaring off our Pomeranian, Lily while she was drinking water. I fly straight into the TV, all the wires behind it scatter out some landing into the water or onto our 'flammable' carpet and suddenly a fire breaks out. Blood is quickly running from the top of my head down to my chin and drips off. I attempt to sit up but I collapse on to the ground, going unconscious.
