[ PAST ]

After a few weeks, Y/n had soon learned to abandon any hope or desires in escaping the clutches of that man.

Felix.

Y/n was physically free—he could walk out to any one of the shops, buy whatever he wanted with his own money, or even lodge a police complaint at the nearest police station. But here was the thing: the police had long proven themselves to be unreliable trashbags—there was an instance where a woman had stalked him, threatened to kill herself if Y/n did not sleep with her—and she had walked away with a slap on her wrist simply because they did not believe a woman could cause harm to a man. And besides the police, Y/n could have technically ran away—but some part of him suspected that it was a plan that would get awry, for Felix had the abilities to hunt someone down like some wild predator.

And he was not about to become prey.

But mentally? Felix had Y/n where he wanted. Felix had undeniably trapped Y/n in some stupid little game: and there was no prize for Y/n. There was only a reward for Felix: and the reward was him. Every time Y/n dragged his feet at snail's pace to see Felix, it felt like shackles were bound to his feet. Y/n had to watch his words carefully—too tactful, and Felix would bore of him and kill him (Y/n had a very strong suspicion that Felix's hands were dirtied with crimson)—too rude, and Felix would have his head on a platter.

...How did this happen again? Y/n thought in frustration. In his hands he glared sharply at the invitation in his hands, recalling the earlier conversation they had.

"Take this," Felix tossed a glossy white envelope to Y/n. "Show it to the doorman when you arrive at the Royal Hotel later."

"This is the first time I'm hearing of such an arrangement."

"Now you know," Felix said calmly. "Oh, and wear that suit I bought you yesterday. Be good, alright? It's that simple."

"What's this meeting for?"

"It's simply an event. You will accompany me, of course. Wouldn't you like to see the faces of all those who tried to get their hands on you, seeing me walking in with Etolie's prized dancer hanging on my arm?"
