Serena's POV
The breeze blows softly, the trees swaying gracefully, the grasses rustling, the birds chirping, the crickets rustling, everything seems so peaceful and serene, it's the exact opposite of my erratic heartbeat.
As I walk through the neatly lawned gardens, I notice two Monarch butterflies fluttering as they join to mate.
I shudder visibly, the blood draining from my face as I remember exactly why I'm here today;
'It's my wedding day'.
I'm getting married to a man that I've never even met. A marriage joining two Elité families, the DeVasquez', and the Diego's.
This type of wedding only happens in K- dramas, and right now, my life seems a lot like I'm featuring in one.
The wedding made the headlines weeks ago, and it hasn't felt real all this time, but now that I'm actually standing here waiting to be summoned to my doom, I realize that it's as real as it can get. I take a deep breath, sighing audibly, as I sing a song that comes to mind softly.
"Impressive! Your voice is really beautiful. Your imitation of Beethoven's last piece is impressive. Your tuning, pitch, and precision are admirable. Very few manage to hit the notes with the precision and pitch required," a stranger in black says, walking up to me with applause.
Startled, I whirl around. The intruder is leaning against one of the beams set up for crawling plants. He gives a heartstopping grin as he pushes away from the beam and walks towards me, or you could just say 'glides'. His steps are seamless, and all his body parts just cooperate to move in sync.
"What are you doing here?, this is private property,"
"Is that so?" The stranger says, coming to a halt in front of me. "Beautiful," he says, raising his right arm to stroke lazily across my cheekbones. I don't move, shocked by his audacity.
"Don't you ever, lay your fingers on me again without my consent!" I burst out in outrage as delicious tingles follow the path his fingers lightly trace.
"So there is going to be another time," He says with a grin.
"Of course not!" I reply, the tips of my ears turning red.
"You are one feisty rabbit," He says, with a smirk on his face.
"Do you ever do anything but smirk?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Unfortunately, I actually do."
"You know what, you're just a jerk. I know people like you. They enjoy picking on others for fun. You know what else, I won't allow myself to be picked on!" I reply in rage, disappointed in myself for letting him rile me up when I'm already so disoriented.
"Whoa! Calm down, princess, I really did not mean to rile you up. I was just impressed by your level of skill at singing Beethoven's piece." He says with a smile, looking unapologetic.
"You know what, asshole, go fuck yourself," I reply, giving him the finger, before turning and walking deeper into the garden, all the while getting more riled up by his laughter.
As I pause to calm down and catch my breath, my mind immediately goes to the stranger in black. 'That black shirt really stretches across his chest abs, and his long legs just stretch on and on(at least to a short person like me). His physique is really awesome. His features are really defined. He looks Italian, so that just explains the jet black glossy hair, the defined cheekbones, and the sexy lips', I think, lost in thought as I stand in the garden, soaking in the fresh air and sunshine.
I stand there lost in thought, wondering whether my future husband looks anything like the stranger in black. 'If he is anything like the unrefined stranger I met today, then I just might die from anger. He really riles me up effortlessly, and if he looks anything like the stranger, then I just might be able to endure his suffocating smugness,' I think with a smile.
