Serena's POV
I blink groggily, my head feeling like some unseen force was hammering at it. I blinked my eyes, trying to force them to open, but as I got them open, I fell back with an irritated sigh. "Aaargh. Who's the demon that really hates me to swing the blinds open this way?" I scream out to no one in particular.
"That demon would be me," an alluring voice says, coming from the couch to my right. I whirl round in surprise, my gaze snagging on Raphael, sitting on the couch with a laptop in his lap.
"What are you doing here?" I ask, running my fingers through my hair to try and push it out of my eyes. He eyes me from the corner of his eyes before he continues to type away.
"What else? I'm waiting for my wife to be discharged so we can get home and finish what we started," He replies, his eyes not budging from his laptop as he continues to type. I blush bright pink at his words, imagining exactly what I think he means.
"What exactly did we start but did not finish?" I ask, my face once more turning bright pink as I ponder what I think his answer is going to be.
He sets his computer down and strides towards my bed, coming to a stop directly behind me. "We had the wedding, Serena, but not the wedding night, and I fully expect it to be completed," Raphael murmurs, tracing the outline of my neck. I shiver as the hairs on my neck become straight.
"What are you doing?" I ask, twisting to see what he wants to do. He grabs my shoulders firmly, setting them in place.
"Will you just keep still? Where is your ridiculous imagination taking you?" He asks, amused as he slowly gathers my hair together, gently smoothing each side before pulling it through a hair band.
My body slowly relaxes as he comes to stand in beside me, his hands on the edge of the bed, leaning close. He stares into my eyes, gently running his finger down my cheekbone before raising my chin up to look him in the eye. "What are you doing to me, Raphael?" I murmur softly, lost in his grey green eyes, but they seem almost emerald now, desire a burning inferno reflecting in his deep green pools. I raise my hand, tracing the days old stubble on his jaw as I sigh contentedly.
"Nothing yet, tigre (tiger), nothing. But I promise that when I do, it will be with your full consent," He replies, his eyes becoming an even darker shade of green before he straightens, turns to grab his laptop, and strides out.
I gasp audibly, breathing deeply, only just realising that I held my breath. My mind replays what just happened, not quite grasping what he means. I shrug it away, picking up a book on the bedside table to read. I spend the rest of the day in solitude, losing myself in the world of my novel's female lead.

I'm rudely awakened by the squeal of two high-pitched sirens. I groan audibly, burrowing my head under my pillow to block out the annoying voices of my best friends.
"Serena, rise and shine sleepyhead, it's time to go shopping!" Ara says, snatching the pillow from above my head.
"Can you be any worse friends than this?" I ask, burrowing deeper, my head protesting against the sudden way I was woken.
"If you can stand up in five seconds, we'll buy you a week's supply of your favourite Lilac Fruit Tarts and Lilac Panna Cotta. We'll also buy you Lilac Gin Fizz tonight," Veronica says, dragging my bedcovers.
"One!" Ara counts, just as Veronica's words click in my head. I instantly bolt upright, staring at Ronnie with mock hatred.
"How can you use my weaknesses against me? It's not fair," I say, climbing down from the hospital bed in annoyance.
"All is not fair in life and war," Veronica replies smugly as she settles down on the couch. I give her a stink eye before looking towards Ara.
"Why exactly do you want me to shop with you?" I ask, becoming increasingly suspicious at Ara's wandering eyes.
"Nothing. We just want you to be our third opinion," Veronica replies, giving Ara a silent warning with a gentle shake of her head.
"Seriously? You want me to be your third opinion? I have zero fashion sense. Isn't that what you say to me whenever we go shopping?" I ask in disbelief, pointing to myself for assurance that they really mean me.
"Okay, okay, we'll tell you the real reason. Raphael handed us his card to take you shopping, and it has no limit. That means we can buy anything we want," Veronica says, her eyes shining in excitement.
"I'm not going then," I reply, attempting to climb back unto my bed.
Twenty minutes later, I'm browsing the stores to find something that even remotely catches my eye. Veronica squeals, pulling us into a random shop.
"Serena, I think this would really fit you. Try it on," Veronica says, staring at a set in the window display of the shop.
"Excuse me! Please can you take down the outfits there? We want to try them on," Ara calls out as we stand admiring the dresses and waiting for the shop attendant. 'I have to admit, these dresses are really cute, just not my taste,' I think staring at the dresses. I slowly bring out my phone to begin my own personal shopping for boots.
"Excuse me! Can someone answer us? This is bad customer service," Veronica says, frowning at the fact that no one is available to help us. A young, rude looking shop attendant comes out and eyes us before coming to a stop in front of Veronica. Veronica eyes her warily, her frown deepening as she dramatically folds her arm and flips her hair over her shoulder.
"Can you please bring those dresses down? My friend wants to try it on," Ara says to the attendant, pointing atvthe display window.
"I'm sorry, only those who can 'actually' afford the dresses, can try it on," She says, smiling fakely in mock apology.
"Ms.....Tori, hmmm, how do you know that we can't afford it? Is this how you behave to all your customers? We want to see your manager," Veronica replies, eyes raging in anger as she reads the attendant's name off her name tag.
"And, who exactly are you that you demand to see the manager? Are you worthy?" Tori, the shop attendant asks, not bothering to hide her expressions any more.
"Well, I'll have you know that the daughter inlaw of the owner of the entire mall is standing right here, you rude whore!"
