Chapter 11.
[One week later]
"LAINEY!" they all rush and tackle me with hugs, yep, me and the band are meeting again to plan our next tour. I get pulled up onto my feet by Deverish and walk to sit in the one stool in the whole place, complaints to follow, "C'mon Lainey I was gonna sit there!", "Lainey please move Ill be your best friend forever" and "Hey thats MY stool". I shake my head stubbornly and stand up on the chair after grabbing a shirly temple from the counter and raise it in a toast, "To us!" I scream, their voices echoing behind mine.
I switch the TV onto some random channel, "And here's a picture of Lainey Crimson with one of her band members, Deverish Kucks, who are rumored to be dating. Is that a baby belly I see?" a newswoman says and a picture appears on the screen of me and Deverish walking hand in hand and theres a circle around my belly. I get up and walk into the bathroom knowing Deverish wouldn't follow me in here... or at least I hoped he wouldnt.
Let me get this straight, I AM NOT PREGNANT. But... that must mean Im fat! Tears are brought to my eyes instantly and I start crying. Wait! There are ways to not be fat! I thought and rushed into one of the stalls and forced myself to puke out my breakfast.
I walked out of the bathroom after getting myself back together and reapplying my makeup. I wasnt going to eat, and if I did, I would puke it out again. That was my plan.
"Lainey dont listen to the dahm news, theyre idiots!" Matt says when he sees me, knowing why I had run into the bathroom.
Deverish puled me into his arms and sat me on his lap. Jake turned on the radio on and we sat there listening quietly. After a couple songs the beginning of one came on and Deverish grinned like a mad hatter and I jumped onto the counter and he started singing:
"Hey girl, go on now!
You know you've got everybody lookin'
Got a little boom in my big truck
Gonna open up the doors and turn it up
Gonna stomp my boots in the Georgia mud
Gonna watch you make me fall in love
Get up on the hood of my daddy's tractor
Up on the tool box, it don't matter
Down on the tailgate
Girl I can't wait
To watch you do your thing
Shake it for the young bucks sittin' in the honky-tonks
For the rednecks rockin' 'til the break of dawn
The DJ spinnin' that country song
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon
Shake it for the birds, shake it for the bees
Shake it for the catfish swimmin' down deep in the creek
For the crickets and the critters and the squirrels
Shake it to the moon, shake it for me girl
Aw, country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Country girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Girl, shake it for me
Sombody's sweet little farmer's child
