When the four of you returned to the sacrificial altar, Chopper was beaten up, having scars and bruises all over his fur-coated body. You tried to ask him who hurt him like that, but since your 'questions' were just muffled hums, he didn't understand you in the slightest. Eventually the others asked what happened for you, and he began to explain how a priest on a giant bird burnt several parts of the ship with an inflamed spear. He also explained how some South Birds saved him from drowning, and that they were larger than usual.
Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp arrived at the altar not long after you did. It was a relief to see that they were alive and okay. It must've been hard drifting through Upper Yard on the small and cramped boat they were using, though.
"The mast is... gone..." Usopp examined the Merry's broken off main mast. There wasn't even a mast anymore -- just a stub. Chopper thought the sniper was angry with him for what he did, but that wasn't the case. "Are your wounds okay, Chopper?!" He asked, and although it surprised the reindeer, he nodded. "Gee, what a scary guy, using a spear that can burn things. I'm glad it wasn't you that got burned! We'll think about the ship later!"
"Hey, Chopper! How did you get rid of one of the priests!" Luffy walked up to the doctor, curious.
"Oh! I used the whistle. The Sky Knight came to rescue me," Chopper answered. Since all of you were curious about the old guy, he led you to the room where he would treat his patients. Gan Fall and Pierre were laying down on some futons, bandaged everywhere. "Here they are."
"Mm?" You hummed, kneeling down next to Luffy beside Gan Fall. He was currently asleep. "Mm..."
"I know," Luffy could practically feel the worry radiating off you. He didn't really express it, but he was also concerned. "He fought this hard, even though he gave us this whistle for free."
Everyone was grateful for Gan Fall for saving Chopper and the Merry. They didn't forget to express their gratitude to Pierre as well.
Sanji exhaled some smoke from his cigar, "Since the ship is in this state and the sun's setting, it looks like we won't be able to head back to Angel Island until tomorrow. In any case, let's head to the forest and camp at the lakeshore."
