The first Aslight of dawn gently peeked through the curtains of the Sterling estate, Lysandra Sterling, a girl of sixteen with a fiery spirit and a heart full of dreams, found herself lost in the beauty of the garden. With each breath, she inhaled the sweet scent of blooming flowers, their vibrant colours painting a picturesque scene against the backdrop of the rising sun.

Beside her stood Thompson, the elderly gardener whose weathered hands tended to the lush greenery with care. "Beautiful morning, Miss Lyra," he remarked, his voice warm with affection for the garden he tended.

Lyra smiled, her eyes sparkling with appreciation. "Indeed, Mr.Thompson. But beauty can be fleeting, don't you think?"

Thompson nodded sagely, his gaze drifting to the rose bushes he was tending. "yes, miss. Sometimes what appears beautiful on the surface hides thorns beneath."

Just then, the tranquil moment was shattered by the arrival of Lyra's older brother, Caleb Sterling, a handsome young man of nineteen with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "Good morning, Lyra!" he greeted, his grin widening as he spotted his sister in the garden.

Lyra turned to face him, a playful glint in her eye. "Good morning, Caleb. Did you come to enjoy the sunrise or are you here to ruin it with your teasing?" she teased, a hint of affection in her voice.

Caleb chuckled, his playful demeanor unrelenting. "Oh, come on, Lyra! Can't a brother enjoy a peaceful morning with his sister?" he teased, nudging her gently with his elbow.

Lyra rolled her eyes, but a small smile played at the corners of her lips. "You're impossible, Caleb," she replied, shaking her head in mock exasperation.

Just then, a voice called out from the doorway of the estate, interrupting their banter. "Lyra! Caleb! Breakfast is ready!" Ethan, the youngest Sterling sibling at fourteen years old, stood at the threshold, his youthful enthusiasm evident in his eager expression.

Caleb turned to Lyra with a grin. "Well, it seems our little brother is more interested in food than sunrise views. Shall we join him?" he asked, extending his arm towards the house.

Lyra laughed; her earlier annoyance forgotten in the warmth of her siblings' company. "Lead the way, Caleb. But don't think I'll let you off the hook that easily," she teased, falling into step beside him as they made their way back to the estate.

As they walked, Caleb couldn't resist a teasing jab at Lyra's expense. "You know, Lyra, I was just thinking about Grandpa and his wild tales of magic and wonder. Do you still believe in all that nonsense?" he teased, his grin widening as he glanced at his sister.

Lyra shot him a playful glare. "Unlike you, Caleb, some of us have imagination. Grandpa's stories were the highlight of my childhood, even if you were too busy rolling your eyes to appreciate them," she retorted, her voice laced with fondness for their absent grandfather.

Caleb chuckled, but there was a hint of remorse in his eyes. "Maybe you're right, Lyra. I guess I was too busy trying to be the sensible one. But hey, at least Grandma's still around to keep us grounded, right?" he said, attempting to lighten the mood.

Lyra's expression darkened at the mention of their grandmother, her thoughts drifting to the woman whose absence had left a gaping hole in their family. "Don't even get me started on Grandma," she muttered, her tone tinged with bitterness.

Ethan, sensing the tension, tried to diffuse the situation with a light-hearted comment. "Come on, you two! Let's not ruin breakfast with your bickering. I'm starving!" he exclaimed, ushering them towards the dining room with an eager grin.
