As Maya and Aria confronted Lyra about her sudden display of magical prowess, panic coursed through Lyra's veins, her mind reeling with disbelief. How could she have hidden such a fundamental truth from her friends?

"I didn't lie," Lyra protested, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "I didn't even know I had these powers until now."

But Maya and Aria exchanged sceptical glances, their brows furrowed with suspicion. "Then why keep it a secret?" Maya pressed, her tone gentle yet probing.

Lyra's mind raced as she struggled to find an explanation, her heart pounding with fear. "I... I don't know," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "Maybe... maybe you're mistaken. Maybe I don't have powers after all."

Determined to prove her point, Lyra turned her attention to a nearby vase, her hands trembling as she attempted to lift it with her mind. But to her horror, the vase remained stubbornly rooted to the ground, defying her every effort.

"See? I told you," Lyra exclaimed, her voice tinged with panic. "I have no powers."

But before Maya or Aria could respond, the vase suddenly plummeted to the ground with a resounding crash, shattering into a thousand pieces. Panic gripped the room as shards of pottery scattered across the floor, leaving Lyra and her friends stunned into silence.

"There you see," Maya murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "There's something... something strange going on here."

Lyra's heart sank as she realized the magnitude of her deception. "I didn't mean to," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "I didn't know..."

But Maya cut her off with a firm nod, her expression resolute. "We'll get to the bottom of this," she declared, her voice filled with determination. "But first, we need answers."

As shards of pottery scattered across the floor and panic gripped the room, Maya's voice cut through the chaos with a sense of urgency.

"Lyra, didn't you mention a book that brought you here?" Maya asked, her tone laced with concern.

Lyra's eyes widened in surprise at Maya's revelation. "Yes, it was a magic book," she confirmed, her voice tinged with disbelief. "But how did you know?"

Maya's expression was grave as she met Lyra's gaze. "I think I know what's happened," she replied cryptically. "Come with me. Let's go to the library."

With a sense of foreboding, Lyra followed Maya out of the room, Aria close behind. The weight of their discovery hung heavy in the air as they made their way through the corridors of the school, the hushed whispers of their classmates echoing in their ears.

As they entered the library, Lyra couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled over her, the gravity of their situation pressing heavily on her mind. But Maya's resolute demeanor offered her a glimmer of hope, a beacon of light in the darkness.

With Maya leading the way, the three girls combed through the shelves, their eyes scanning the titles in search of answers. But as they sifted through the dusty tomes, none seemed to offer any insight into Lyra's sudden manifestation of magic.

Frustration gnawed at Lyra's insides as she turned page after page, her search yielding nothing but dead ends. "There has to be something here," she muttered, her voice tinged with disappointment.

Maya wasted no time as she led her friends deeper into the library, her eyes scanning the shelves with determination. Finally, she stopped at an aisle tucked away in a dimly lit corner, the books here seemingly untouched by anyone's hands for centuries.

With a sense of purpose, Maya reached out and pulled a dusty tome from the shelf, its cover adorned with faded symbols and intricate designs. She blew away the dust, revealing the title: "The History of the Rulers of Aetheria Realm."
