Jake's eyes locked onto Sunghoon's as he stepped out of the bathroom, the world around them fading into the background. They stared at each other for a long moment, neither of them moving. Sunghoon's expression was blank, revealing nothing of what he might be thinking.
Jake's heart raced. He tilted his head slightly, squinting as if trying to see through a haze. Was this another hallucination? The uncertainty gnawed at him, twisting his perception of reality. The tension built until it felt like the air itself was vibrating.
Then, without warning, Jake started to laugh. The sound echoed through the empty hall, loud and unrestrained. He clutched his sides, bending over as the laughter shook his body.
"Another one," he managed to gasp between fits of laughter. "I'm really losing it."
Sunghoon's eyes widened slightly, a flicker of confusion crossing his otherwise stoic face. He watched Jake with an unreadable expression, unsure of how to react to the outburst.
Jake's laughter gradually subsided, and he straightened up, wiping tears from his eyes. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. When he looked at Sunghoon again, the uncertainty was still there, but the laughter had brought a momentary clarity.
"Are you real?" Jake asked, his voice quieter now, almost a whisper.
Sunghoon didn't respond immediately. He just stood there, watching Jake with that same impassive gaze. The silence stretched between them, heavy with unspoken questions.
Jake's heart pounded in his chest. He reached out tentatively, his hand trembling as he moved it towards Sunghoon, needing to know if this was real.
"What are you doing?" coldly asked Sunghoon as he stepped back.
"So you ARE real?" Jake narrowed his eyes and moved away the hand. Sunghoon did not say anything again. Jake laughed again
"W...What are you laughing at?" Sunghoon asked with already little panic in his eyes.
"Don't believe noooo, I don't" Jake arced his back backward and put his hand on his forehead like a psycho. "I am going crazy ! JUST going crazy. I have not seen you for a while and right now I am seeing you in front of me in my OWN university. Don't tell me you actually study here. Or worse, TURNING TO MY TEACHER?" Jake grabbed his stomach laughing
"But I am actually..." Sunghoon was about to say something when he heard footsteps. "I need to go now" he said and left by the corner. Jake was still laughing when he turned around and saw the principal.
'Huh?" the older raised an eyebrow. "Sim Jake what are you doing here huh? And at what are you laughing at?" he said with an unsatisfied tone.
Jake was speechless as everything seemed so serious now.
