Katsuki found himself caught up in the drama of dealing with Gon and friends, as well as contending with fake examiners, frustrating card throws and a realization.

---

Gon wasn't the brightest kid he ever met. Clearly extremely skilled and full of untapped potential and a simplistic yet somehow captivating style. He would make a good Hero. However, the excessively large, round eyes were starting to seriously piss him off, compounded by his insistence on not leaving him the fuck alone. Babbling and asking question after question. Extremely annoying, stubborn, and incredibly stupid. Of course, the gnome would chase after him, as if Icyhot wasn't a perfectly suitable option at that very moment.

"If Lord Explosion Murder isn't your name, what is it then?" Gon kept on asking, making the blonde huff in annoyance. "What business is it of yours, you annoying Critter?!" It was more than clear that Katsuki wasn't in any mood to entertain children. It was so straightforward that even someone as dense as Dunce Face would have grasped it. Shouldn't kids be more attuned to such matters? Why on earth didn't that persistent green-clad dwarf finally leave him alone?!

"You're quite mean." The boy stated this, but stubbornly refused to give him any peace and quiet. Katsuki began moving, circling widely around 99 and Todoroki, who appeared to be engaged in a conversation of their own. That one appears to be going more willingly than his own with 405. He was determined to get rid of the dwarf, skillfully maneuvering through the other participants who arrived huffing and puffing, even bypassing that unsettling clown. But Gon refused to budge, following the blonde every step of the way, seemingly thinking this was some kind of game. How fucking dare this kid?

"Why don't you cry me a goddamn river, moron?" In front of him, Gon came to a halt, staring at him with anticipation in his annoying eyes. "But I want to know what to call you!" How can anyone be so oblivious to fundamental social clues? Once again, Katsuki couldn't help but notice the Critter's strikingly green attire. Those green boots, shorts, and jacket are just plain ugly. The black, spiky hair reminded him faintly of his own; the green undertones, however, pissed him off. His eyes were a blend of oranges, yellows, and browns, with sun-kissed skin. Further, a smile that oozes innocence, hope, and a certain air of self-assurance.

He looks like he spent his entire life outside, as if able to recite the whole natural wildlife flawlessly. How old was the dwarf, anyway? 10?

One thing was clear. He absolutely wanted nothing to do with Gon. At all. He reeked of trouble. "Still none of your damn business!" Katsuki crossed his arms in front of his chest, turning away with a snarl and instead watching the still-arriving participants. They were all huffing and gasping for breath, their bodies drenched in sweat and looking more than disheveled. Pathetic side characters, letting themselves be outrun by a literal toddler. By two, actually. Right, Icyhot was still engaged in a conversation with this somehow ridiculously strong child. What the heck was going on with the number 99 anyway?

And naturally, the Critter couldn't keep his damn mouth shut, starting to annoy Katsuki once more.

"Hmm, I'll just call you "explosion" now!" Gon explained happily, as if he had just solved some difficult equation and gotten some kind of groundbreaking idea. "Hah?! What the hell?" Katsuki abruptly turned back. "I mean, your friend did call you Lord Explosion Murder, so I thought-" The blonde interrupted him. His friend? Todoroki?!

"My friend?!" Katsuki kept his volume in check but made sure Gon stopped talking almost immediately. He glanced up at the blonde, confused, and tilted his large head to the side. "You mean he's not?" Oh, how Katsuki despised kids. "Of fucking course not!"

The Critter just blinked up at him and said, "Why would he call you that name, then?"

"How the fuck would I know? Go ask him, and stop annoying me!"
