For four years, they grew together—or at least, she thought they did. Lena finished school, discovered passions, started questioning the world and herself. But Theo stayed the same. Predictable, distant when things got emotional, dismissive when she tried to explain how she felt.
She wanted to talk about dreams, fears, the things that kept her up at night. But he'd roll his eyes, call her "too sensitive," or change the subject entirely. Every disagreement felt like she was speaking a different language. She began to wonder: was he mature, or just set in his ways?
Now at twenty-three, Lena felt a pull inside her—a quiet voice asking if love should feel this lonely. The age gap didn't matter so much when she was younger, but now, it loomed larger than ever. It wasn't the years, it was the distance in understanding.
