Angela didn't know what to expect when she arrived at their apartment. They were roommates, and both sounded desperate. Had she expected a fire? Something stolen? A body? She probably hadn't expected anything when she thought about it. Because it was the middle of the night and her brain was sleeping, just the autopilot of it driving the car.
They had told Angela to take the key under the mat, which made her even more concerned, so she went into the apartment. Silent crys were coming out of the bathroom. Then she didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. The decision hit a silent giggle. There were pregnancy tests all over the floor, not used, though. A few packages of meds against nausea and a lot of food. Chocolate, chips, nick nacks, Nutella, saltsticks, etc.
"What is going on here?"
"We're afraid to take the tests."
Celina answered, and for a moment, Angela's brain didn't click, and she thought that just Celina could be pregnant. It let a wave of joy wash over her. She was on the way to hug Celina as realization kicked in.
We're too afraid.
Both of them. Lucy could be pregnant too, and with her situation, the joy was replaced by a lump in her throat.
Seeing what Angela just must have understood, Lucy nodded. Then, Angela decided to hug both of them.
Now, it needed a lot of good talk from Angela before they finally took the tests. Five minutes later, which seemed for all three of them like an eternity. When the timer was over, they shared nervous glances filled with uncertainty before they eventually turned them around.
"Ok, at the same time?"
All of them nodded in agreement and turned around the tests, which were a lot of them. Five from Lucy and five from Celina. And to get them that they really make one, Angela had also taken five. She wasn't believing that she was pregnant, but she would do everything to calm her friends down.
So imagine her shock when they turned around all of the pregnancy tests, and really, all of them came back positive.

It was six in the morning and the earliest appointment they could have by the Gyn. One after another were called into her room and exaimed.
All of them had been shocked and feeling mixed emotions. Celina had been afraid what Aaron would say because that had envolped from a one night stand. A one night stand between two friends who at the same time showed and denied their feelings.
Lucy had been afraid because her and Tim weren't together anymore. How would she be able to tell the man she still loves so much but who shattered her heart unto a million pieces at the same time and still let it ache just by looking at her, that she was pregnant with his child?
Angela had been afraid because she had just settled into her career again. Working with Nyla was good, and also at home, they finally found a good routine with everything again.Lucy had felt happy for a brief moment because she had always wanted a child, and since she met him, she wanted to have one with Tim. Just not in that kind of situation.
Celina had felt happy for short because she knew that having a baby would make her life finally complete, but without the father as her boyfriend, it wouldn't be as picture perfect as in her imagination.
Angela couldn't quite tell why there was this light familiar lurch of excitement in her stomach. Probably just hormones, she told herself.Angela had felt scared because it really wasn't the right time for it. They were dealing with Monica again and that gang. Also, did her stomach sense that something bad was about to happen as stupid as it sounded.
Celina had been scared because she had nothing really sorted out in her life. Her living situation wasn't perfect, of course, she liked living with Lucy but if she would have a child it might get difficult. She still wasn't at best terms with her mother and the father of the child was still in therapy, she didn't want to make it sound rude, but still, and who didn't even know about it. Like they were children, they had avoided talking about it.
Lucy had felt scared because of the situation with Tim, of course. Things between them were far worse than difficult, but it actually wasn't even the main reason. She knew that pregnancies in her family were hard. Her mother, her aunt, her other aunt, her grandmother, nobody of them had had it easy and even had miscarriages which scared her off as hell.Thirty minutes after the last of the three women had gotten back from Dr. Farey or Clara, how she had insisted them to call her, she came back with the results.
She assured that it was ok for all three of them to share the results of the other. She started with Angela.
"Ok, well, how I already expected after the ultrasound can I assure you now that you aren't pregnant."
Angela blew out a sigh of relief and got comforting hand squeezes from both of her friends.
"You have a urinary tract infection with a lot of bacteries, though, what caused the false result on the pregnancy test. I'll give you medicine which you have to take for two weeks, then you should come for another check up, so that I can confirm everything is fine."
The wave of relief was clearly visible in Angela's features. They were talking about it for short, but soon, they were waiting for the next statement from the doctor.
"Ok, so Lucy, can I call you Lucy?"
She just nodded.
"You are pregnant, and you're ten weeks along."
"Ten weeks... That was at-"
"John and Bailey's wedding... Wait, Clara, am I ten weeks also?"
The poor doctor looked a little confused but nodded.
"Oh gosh."
Within the next two seconds, she just had two women crying in her room. Both of them were obviously not out of joy and probably worsened from the hormones. Angela was hugging both of them, being included in the situation and knowing why they reacted like that.
But now they had the sureness what was going on. They couldn't deny it anymore. And even though it were horrible circumstances, they knew that they would keep it. Also, would they go through that together. They wouldn't be alone. That was a silent agreement between these roommates. They were now sharing a new kind of bond. One that would grow strong.
